The looks don't matter- ASMR is triggered by sounds. Yea, many popular channels feature hot girls, but that actually has little to do with ASMR itself. Heck, Bob Ross is one of the most famous ASMR triggers. The stimulation isn't in your genitals or anything like that, it is in your scalp, and can go down your spine, and it isn't erotic, its a relaxing, calming sensation. Those who have ASMR know it isn't sexual. I suppose it is impossible for those who don't get it to understand, and some YouTube channels dedicated to it don't help due to the appearance of some of the women in the videos.

Sounds like you're doing it wrong
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

I had a similar experience when I was in elementary school. One of the first times I remember feeling ASMR was when we had a substitute teacher who wrote very slowly and deliberately on the chalkboard, and I felt a relaxing tingling down my head and neck. Likewise, it's only been in recent years that I've actually learned that there was a name for that feeling and that other people experience it, too.

I also don't really understand the people who watch ASMR videos that are more sexualized. Again, for me, ASMR has always been more about relaxation, and I feel like getting aroused in any way runs counter to that. In fact, I tend not to like videos where people are specifically trying to trigger ASMR in general, as they tend to come off as feeling "forced" and that can ruin the experience for me. I personally prefer to watch "unintentional" ASMR videos, like a few people mentioned the Boss Ross clips, or stuff like people performing tea ceremonies, or bartenders explaining how to mix certain drinks...anything that's done very carefully and deliberately and/or accompanied by a calm, soothing voice.

It's unfortunate that, as is evident by this thread, there still seems to be a stigma attached to the whole ASMR phenomena. While the more sexualized videos probably don't help, it seems like it has more to do with the fact that some people still don't really understand the feeling even when it is described to them, having not personally experienced it themselves.

If you need these fidgetty noises, buy a parakeet, and rabbit. You'll have plenty of scratching and tapping noises all day and night.

Not so sure it's an american thing but rather a human thing though.

This is some child psychologist shit people play when their kids are sleeping so they think they've been parents all day.

Third, you are a complete lonely weirdo if you are into this, end of story.

I am getting old. When did this weirdo ASMR stuff start? Apparently everyone knows about it but me.
I've had asmr ever since i grew up, it has not been sexual at all. At first I had no idea what it was but i loved hearing people work it stimulated my ears. My grandma was folding my clothes as a kid after they had been washed and while we was putting them in the drawer her nails would touch the wood of the drawer and the clothes moving touching the wood sound and for some reason that noise was soothing so i just layed on my bed falling asleep to it because it was so soothing. At first i did not think much of it until i grew older i could hear kids outside playing with their toy car that kids sit on and the wheels grinding the pavement was so soothing i paused the music i had on because of that sound.
I realised it was not normal because whenever i asked people none of them experienced what i did. I follow many ppl on twitch that are calm or that you can hear their keyboard or mouse.
For me it has never been anything sexual though because my favourite sounds are that of no human for example ice hitting glass when making a drink or rain.
I had no idea it was called asmr until i read about it some year ago, which made me happy I wasnt alone with it.

Ps: just watched the more sexualized asmr videos.... they are waay to cringe for me.

I'm not sure what you all are having such a hard time with. I never, once, said that ALL ASMR was about sexualization. The OP said that there was no sexual arousal in ASMR, which is false.

There is a lot of gaming content that is sexualized, like comics, anime, movie, and TV shows. That doesn't mean that is all there is. But it also means that claiming there's none of it is false. Just be honest.

    Read next time.

Call me naive, but i never thought of ASMR in a sexual way and never got to an sexualized ASMR video, either, while just searching for ASMR with mayve brushing or massage or tapping....

    I love asmr,

I can see how people think it's sexual- and some asmartists blatantly go for that sort of thing doesnt mean thats the main focus of asmr. you can best compare it to music videos, sure theres a lot of naked women showing their wares, but that doesnt make the song good (but let's be honest, it definetly doesnt make them worse)

Maybe it has to do withh a sense of lonelyness or being pampered, i dont know, i do know that that tingly relaxation feeling is fantastic, and i love it!

I don't get it. 95% of the time men think women talking are annoying, but make it asmr and then it's awesome?

No thanks. I don't enjoy talking with people or listening about random shit that doesn't matter.
This exactly. It's bad enough I have to listen to my wife. I can't get hard listening to some woman I don't even care about say even stupider shit than my wife does.

I don't think it's about the subject matter as much as it is the subtle physical sounds of speech that you don't normally hear in a typical conversation.

Some channels play on the sex thing, some dosnt, saying that all asmr is a sexual thing is like saying all black people are criminals

    See channels like this

For me, i just listen to the ASMR, i find the video distracting in most cases.

I think about it like a massage. It's not inherently sexual but it can be made so. And much like a massage there are plenty of people who will find a "normal" one arousing.

I actually find some of the old H.P. Lovecraft audiobooks on YouTube really relaxing. A woman whispering to me IRL is usually my wife trying to tell me that my fly is down or my two daughters getting ready to tackle or jump scare me.

Mate, you really need to calm down with this "12 year olds" rhetoric.
