Every time someone kicks up the old 'I don't pay tax for this argument' I laugh a bit inside. You pay tax for whatever the damn you have to. Your personal contribution to any single scheme is so infinitesimally small it's not even worth complaining. People act like they're being made to wholly contribute personally, but in reality they're one in hundreds of thousands if not millions who also have to contribute. Each individual's contribution is peanuts.

When tax is concerned, people will always find something to bitch about. They can complain about funding birth control but if they had a financial breakdown detailing where their taxes go, I'm sure most folk would find a hundred far bigger things to complain about. And hey, I'm all for stuff that helps curtail the dangerous population rise going on.

There's actually a line of medical/social thought that agrees with you. I remember during my time in the OB/GYN there was an article from the ACOG (I think it was this one) that argued for OCs not requiring prescription.

Some hormones/multihormonal pills should still be controlled. But OCs like Ethinylestradiol/levonorgestrel should be OtC IMHO.
