Yeah that's a nice way of looking at it. And if that's how it is I imagine Arthas could in fact be in the Void, because he ultimately did meddle with it.

dont want him back but quest that let him RIP is good idea

The only way I could imagine Arthas to "return" is as a ghost stopping Bolvar from fucking up big time then giving us some dramatic one-liner only to disappear again.

Arthas cannot be in the void due to simple fact that Sylvanas saw him, thats the end of it

Regarding resurrection, there are few possibilities in fact:
    1) First death knights were with warlock souls, meaning they already had passed and were pulled back. It was described in chronicles in more detail.
    2) If Sylvanas could be resurrected by val'kyr, then Arthas could be too. Not all val'kyr are loyal to Odin/Sylvanas, there might be rogue ones too.
    3) Humans come from Vrykuls, Arthas was a human, so he would end up where rest of them were, if by any chance becoming DK didn't change that.
    4) Worst comes to pass - Kel`Thuzad is still out there, he was very fond of Arthas, meaning he would go lengths to get him back... If that would serve him... + encounter in WoD that cult of the damned member.

Overall, looking of how current Lich King is becoming more and more self-serving "evil", I doubt there will be easy power give away at this point. Even at Archerus the ice lich says (after WQ) - one good thing about previous Lich King was, he was crazy efficient in dealing with Legion, indicating the current Lich King is not as good, even though he has been on the throne for the same amount of time as Arthas was, although, without Frostmourne at his side, meaning there might be some discontent how things are run now regarding this threat.

Overall - It is merely a setback!

P.S. Right now, there isn't a place where Arthas could fit it easily, or maybe - next Expansion - THE INVASION OF SHADOWLANDS.

Why does everything need to come back over and over and over and over again? I's one of the best characters, had his story and had his ending. Maybe we can move on to the rest of the universe like Nzoth and Azshara instead of having a couple more expansions of setbacks.

Doesn't matter, they're every bit as canon as everything else in the game. Death is meaningless in the game world.

Or Blizzard can develop new characters who are interesting, like Wrathion instead of recycling the same shit over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

    Meanwhile in blizzard HQ:
    - So guys any ideas for next expansion ?
    - How about "Garrosh returns" ?
    - Brilliant.

The only other way he could return is in another AU universe, but after WoD I doubt that they'd do anything like that again.
No Illidan was brought back to fix his character.......TBC was horribad for him and supposably the original plan was he was going to be our ally escorting us around outland. now what he has done in legion so far is not much but i get the feeling argus patch is where we will see more as he only just came back after NH and broken shore was ment to hold us out till TOS. and honestly the lore edits where not even retcons, just a new perpective was shown to us.... they made it work really nicely.

i agree that bringing back arthas is a bad idea, but ner'zhul......we have hints of him in frostmourne shards, bolvar doing more and more evil things because *VOICES TELL ME TO*, and only thing we know is that arthas took control from nerzhul and suppoably *purged him* which then where did he go?

    EDIT
Bolvar could of also been successfully broken by Arthas this entire time playing a long game. As Arthas wanted to break him and make him his greatest champion.

Not sure why the community keeps saying "Arthas' story is done" or "it had a solid ending"... This is a dude who was being set up for a redemption plot, it was so obvious until the fans cried they wanted Illidan back. Arthas is also the former Lich King and it's been stated, he's someone who definitely can come back.

Would really love to see him as some herald of the void lords, him among Ner'zhul, Garrosh and a few others leading the forces of the Void Lords. Fighting random faceless, old gods and bugs would get boring fast.

oh god pls no, where did you get that Arthas was being set up for a redemption?? He was going to be the ultimately bad guy since his character was created back in Warcraft 3, i hate when people pull this kind of crap out of their ass

The Dark Lady confirmed she met him in what was presumably the Void, and the Void Lords seem to be tormenting him. So his consciousness still exists in some capacity that the writers could draw from when fleshing out the threat to come. Perhaps something as minor as a Deathbringer Saurfang equivalent, a quest chain, or even permanently returning to Lordaeron with the aid of Val'kyr. He would be a fitting candidate to lead the (begrudging) Forsaken should something happen to Sylvanas, her story take her from the Horde or her responsibilities as Warchief demand she delegate her duties in the Royal Quarter to another. After all, the people of Lordaeron are his people. Arthas vs Anduin could make for a great pvp story line.
We don't know this is true for certain though. The Valkyr could have made all of that shit up. They made Sylvanas have visions... The big plot hole in that story is that the Valkyr "replace" Sylvanas in the void. Why would they willing go to the void when they can stay in Northrend bound to the Lich King (the Nerzhul/Arthas personalities trapped in the armor). Where they won't have to go to the void knowing their is an eternity of damnation waiting for them. They would willingly damn themselves, when they could stay alive? They are still being bound to Sylvanas, but with her there is an escape. There is no hell (void) that she goes to, there is nothing, when the Valkyr sacrifice themselves to save Sylvanas it's entirely self-serving. They are being granted the release of death at that point.
Sylvanas wanting to stay alive is completely tied to her "knowing" what comes after death. Why would that same hell make Sylvanas want to stay alive, but make the Valkyr tie themselves to someone who will hasten their own damnation.

It also makes sense that the Valkyr would be able to pull on Arthas as a child for their made up vision. Arthas (as the Lich King) had an internal struggle with himself and Nerzhul, in which he stabbed both himself (represented as a child) and Nerzhul and became the dominant personality within the Lich King. They are bound to the LK and they've shown they can see into people's minds, this vision would be known to them.

This is so disgustingly accurate, but its still possible for his return. With Tirion dead, a new paladin leader is needed; Sylvanas is going to get something soon, and Arthas may fill in as Resident Paladin and leader of the Forsaken (introducing undead paladins). This is pushing it, but with Blizzard writing its possible.

edit: With Bolvar being sketchy as the lich king it also sets up arthas as a redemption story to defeat "himself" - the LK.

edit 2: If Arthas is somehow reborn as a paladin, he would have shadow + holy affinities, which would be twilight. The void will probably gain dominance over the Naaru and therefore become twilight infused. I see this all going the same way as SC2

Blizz has to see the bad ideas so they don't think them themselves and think they are good ideas

It'd be super cool if he came back and lead an Undead Alliance faction though. I want an alliance undead faction. :<

No one in the Horde or Alliance would ever take Arthas in. Maybe Jaina.

They don't need to bring Arthas back from the dead when characters like Maxwell Tyrosus and Lady Liadrin exist to fill the void Tirion left.

Yeah no, almost all signs of Arthas' story points to him being good and eventually being redeemed. He is the Anakin/Vader of Warcraft and even Chris Metzen said his body which mysteriously is missing, is of importance.

His redemption, being brought back plot just makes sense, it's obvious that people jumped the gun on it and said "no"... it's like knowing Jon Snow was gonna come back for years before he even dies on the show, it's just that obvious.

And now we have Illidan back, not because it makes sense, but because it wasn't going to happen and so the fans wanted it to happen... chris metzen even did a live poll of it at Blizzcon which led to them changing the story for it.

If you don't want Arthas back, that's fine, but don't be so stupid to ignore the signs that he was being set up for an eventual redemption.
