I hope we're going for N'zoth and Azshara, but I have a feeling we'll get a filler expansion that takes us to space.
We've had a green-themed expansion, so next up is purple fel. I mean void.
Take a break from politics once in awhile, it's good for you.
The Universe or whatever cannot handle the power of the all artifacts put together. This will cause a cataclysmic event. The world as we know it ripped apart.
From the ashes a big bang occurs. A new Universe rises and everyone starts afresh in a new world at 0.
Seriously, I have no idea.
The specific isn't really important, it's what it leads to that is. The Blizz writers can easily come up with 100000000 excuses to have the players enter a ship or portal and then 100000000 other plot devices that can cause it to go wrong (unstable power, sabotage, traitor, attacked by void, etc).
So the specific isn't really important since they have a shit load of plot devices to choose from that can lead to us being stranded on an alien world.

This is basically what I wrote in my opening thread, with the only difference being that we have an expansion in between Argus and N'Zoth/Void taking over Azeroth.
The expansion has us going to a new planet (we need another break from Azeroth, how many more continents can we discover...) and then coming back and dealing with the same old zones, except they are remodeled because they are all corrupted by void (a-la Cata remake, except limited only to a few zones, not everything).
I'd like to go to another planet in the next expansion though to give the Void time to corrupt. Would be silly if we spend only a few months in Argus (which is literally right next to Azeroth, we can literally see the zones from Argus, we'd notice if Kalimdor suddenly turned purple) and that is magically enough time to have the Void completely take over/corrupt the planet. It'll seem rushed.

Either Azshara and N'zoth (which at this point seems like a step down from having Titans in a raid...) or the Void.
After the power creep of the last two expansions, the Scourge, the Trade Princes of the Undermine, the pirates and trolls of the South Seas and other non-end-of-the-universe-threats don't feel like expansion material anymore.
And Blizzard won't dare using the Bronze or Infinite Dragonflight after WoD. They already made fools of themselves by not understanding the point of alternate universes, why would they try with the minefield of paradoxes that is "linear" timetravelling.

I just posted a bit ago about how the Void is pretty much the only remaining villain faction left (with N'Zoth and Azshara as major bosses), but that there are a lot of ways you can not only divide that up, but other hanging plots. The thing is though, Legion dealt with a large number of hanging plots itself. It's possible that the next expansion will deal with all of these.
As just a quick example, and for argument's sake, let's use another common speculation that next expansion will do with races what this expansion did with classes, here is a list of things the expansion could deal with:
Main Plot: N'Zoth has broken out of his prison and is extremely active, being way more of a danger than the more powerful old gods thanks to having no restraints on his power. We desperately have to stop him before he can either corrupt Azeroth or otherwise bring a major Void Lord presence into the physical universe.
Human Storyline: Resolves the fate of Kul Tiras.
Forsaken Storyline: Deals with Bolvar finally starting to make his moves (death knights break away on their own like before) and the return of Kel'thuzad.
Troll Storyline: Resolves the fate of Zandalar.
Worgen Storyline: Retakes Gilneas.
Night Elf Storyline: Deals with the return of Azshara who wants revenge on Malfurion and Tyrande.
Goblin Storyline: Kezan becomes a place that can be returned to.
One thing I always wondered and never understood: why is there an Eredar in the Underbelly?
My guess is: World of Warcraft: The Casino Royale.
