If anything his license plate supports the indigenous point of view. Borg were evil villains that wanted to force everyone to be the same. The heroes fought against the Borg so that everyone could retain their unique, individual traits (cultural or otherwise).
They shouldn't being trying to get rid of his plate. They should be voicing support for it.
Can someone PLEASE explain why Tennisace is still able to create threads where he purposely supports the wrong side of an inconsequential small-town dispute in attempts to flame people or start arguments? There is no discussion here. Ignoring all the context and trying to make this a racial issue is a waste of everyone's time. License plates are out of sight to most people, states and provinces do a fine job filtering out explicit license plates with malicious intent, this one is not offensive.
Oh, I sympathize with how shitty you've treated your indigenous peoples. There's really no debate on how badly Canada's natives have been treated. Your country has fallen far short on that issue.
But this is a clear Star Trek reference, and regardless of how offensive something is, you shouldn't have the right to do that to someone.
9 out of 10 people agree that in a room full of 10 people one person will always disagree with the other 9.
yeah, actually No party has any right in this situation.
A vanity licence plate is not a right, therefore Canada can regulate them as they wish.
As for the two first people's they have no right whatsoever to not have that licence plate on that car.
The relevant authority may decide whatever it want's in this particular instance.
I wish threads from people you've ignored would stop showing up.

U reckon all tennisace does all day is trying to find articles he consideres spicey and then copy paste them onto mmo-champ to cause a ruckus?
I'm on his side. He has every right to put what he wants on his plates, except maybe hate speech since plates are made by the government (at least in the US they are.) And "ASIMIL8" is vague enough that I don't think it can count as "hate speech," especially since it's an obvious reference to Star Trek.
Now if it said "NAZI," then we'd have a problem. However, only because a license plate is a government product. If it was a bumper sticker, he can have it on his car all he wants. He'd be a douchebag, but it's his car, his bumper sticker.
But there's nothing wrong with "ASIMIL8"

From the UN Refugee convention:
To think that the Alt-Righters managed to travel through time.Article 34 - Naturalization
The Contracting States shall as far as possible facilitate the assimilation and naturalization of refugees. They shall in particular make every effort to expedite naturalization proceedings and to reduce as far as possible the charges and costs of such proceedings.
The word "assimilate" shouldn't be struck from the English language just because it happens to relate to the way indigenous groups were treated.
All vanity plates are completely stupid, but he should be able to keep his. There's nothing wrong with referencing assimilation with regards to either real life or Star Trek.
