Living story season 3 finale coming july 25th

and with that also the finale of heart of thorns. Could it still be true that the new expansion releases this year?

If the expansion is released this year, they're going to have a super short marketing campaign for it. Either way, I'm super curious as to how they handle it/the direction it goes, especially after the damage that HoT did to the games revenue.

Oh well, guess I'm finding time to finish up the last chapter this weekend so I can be ready to jump right into this one.

maybe there won't be next expansion - could be they are being silent about it to milk as much profits as possible before killing off the game

unless they made official announcement nothing they say is worth a damn

A fairly lackluster trailer, but I'm excited for the end of the season nonetheless. Interested in seeing how Orr and the undead will lead us into the next expansion.

Their rough plan is to release the next expansion with a similar spacing as the Living World episodes, although admit that there's a high chance it will take a little longer due to the scale of an expansion. Given that, there's a chance the expansion will launch late 2017, or else early 2018.

How so? While it's not a guarantee, it's a definite indicator of the direction they intend to take, and Mike O'Brien made it clear that direction was a new expansion. That's more to go off of than the theory that it's a scheme to milk their players before abruptly shutting down.

Wasn't the greatest of trailers but they have never been good at making them. Plus I think they wanted to avoid any major spoilers.

HoT announcement was at the end of Season 2's last episode, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same here.

Man, Anet is so garbage at making trailers lol

Looking forward to the patch though. Been really liking the direction they took with living world updates after HoT.

i'm pretty sure that a new expansion is as good as announced (as good as it gets without an official announcement).
There's been some pretty big leaks of new content for gw2 as well. if that doesnt all get dropped into this last episode it's pretty clear that they're not giving up on the game. and i see no reason why they would as they're doing pretty well.

It's already been confirmed that there's another expansion. That's the president/founder of ArenaNet. I think he's a pretty credible source.

    Didn't even bought HoT.

I hope we can skip it if expansion 2 is a thing. Without that I will never come back to GW2.

Pretty sure you'll be able to jump right into X2 content. The HoT story is pretty self contained. You might have a bit of a rough time without getting HoT mastery points, specifically for gliding, though.

I'm not sure if the HoT content will go F2P or will be free with the X2 purchase, but if you get X2 you'll get the elite specs and other nice stuff that came with HoT as well.
If you are particularly bold, you could use a Shiny Ditto. Do keep in mind though, this will infuriate your opponents due to Ditto's beauty. Please do not use Shiny Ditto. You have been warned.

I imagine they will do what they did last time, full cost for the current expansion includes the base game and HoT

i think they stated before that once a new expansion hits, all previous content becomes free (aside from the living story episodes if you forgot to collect them when they went live, you'll still have to buy those). like how the base game became free to play when HoT hit.

They will either want to nerf the content of HoT, or at least the time-gates of masteries if they do that...
HoT wasn't easy in exotics; i dare not imagine how the playtrough would go had i started it with a fresh 80.

HoT has been nerfed pretty hard before. like a decent amount of months ago. I think most hero challenges should be soloable and if not i don't think it's too much to ask to gather up 2-3 people. Last I checked there's still a decent amount of people on HoT maps and it's not rare for me to see a hero-point party in LFG. Aside from that exp gain has been buffed by quite a bit so getting masteries isn't as tedious as it was before. Also I don't see how masteries are time-gated. I'm pretty sure you can complete them back-to-back if you have that sort of grinding stamina. At least that's what I did when I worked on my legendary.

Masteries weren't even too terrible...I played HoT for all of 3 weeks tops, but was around mastery rank 55 or such. Granted, a fair amount of those were Tyria Mastery, but hey, having that perma-swiftness in towns sure is nice.

I have yet to play any of the LS3 episodes, but I'm making sure to unlock then in the event I get bored with FF14. May do world completion again, this time on human ele, and swap to that character full time rather than remain a Clipp...er Charr. I do enjoy the Charr lore, though.

Tyrian masteries are harder than HoT masteries imo.

I see a lot of newer guildies struggle with getting enough points or grinding out the xp for those. Especially if they didn't buy LS2.

Yeah, I automatically got a bunch of Tyrian masteries when the system started, but getting more requires redoing a bunch of episodes of S2 or like, the 3 wurm thing or whatever. Nothing I want to do. Meanwhile they just keep adding more HoT masteries in updates.
