This is hilarious. I can only imagine the face of the engineer that had to design that. It looks soooo much like a bad workaround, I am 100% certain this whole thing went down like this:
Exec: "So and how am I going to talk with my teammates?"
Engineer: "Sir.....you cant. There was no microphone in the hardware specification we sent to manufacturing"
Exec: "Why not you incompetent fool?"
Engineer: "Because its our policy to be family friendly and people can be mean. You wanted it cheap. And never during R&D was the requirement of chat brought up. Also you greenlighted this."

yeah but last time i checked it said the game was 59.99 and i was gonna get it for 51, i guess i got some sort of preorder price cut thing? maybe they put the wrong price in at some point idk, still. 45$ is a steal.

They always do $45 for preorders with Prime.

Because I would expect a device to have simple basic features that all other devices on the market have, Even more so when Nintendo is pushing into online gaming more (Arms and Splatoon as examples).

So because Wii-U and Wii didn't have it that's a excuse for The Switch? This whole setup goes against the playing mobile part of it. No one is going to use this setup mobile (out in public) and look like they just stepped out of a Matrix machine.

You can't even put your phone in standbuy or accept a call without it disconnecting you.

Clearly people didn't give up since one again a vast amount of people are pissed about this.

Not hard definitive proof of course, but Ive talked to Japanese people on other message boards and they think its weird and say most think its weird. Anecdotal I know, but I believe it to be true. I dont need to prove it. In the end Nintendo does know the Japanese market very well. The old crusty suits that run the show live in a bubble and either don't understand the west, or don't care to. They really should. You can see it on Reggies face every time someone asks him about a stupid decision. Hes just a PR puppet. Nintendo America/Europe have no real power. It sucks.
