“Obviously I cannot comment on the reliability of what anonymous sources describe in a wholly uncorroborated intelligence intercept that the Washington Post has not seen and that has not been provided to me,” said Sarah Isgur Flores, a Justice Department spokeswoman in a statement. She reiterated that Sessions did not discuss interference in the election."
You are grasping at straws here.
Wow. Doesn't look at all like a denial to me. They're going with "you can't get a second person to say this" instead of "Sessions didn't do it"?
Also, which paper was it that broke the news of Session's first and second meetings with Kislyak, the ones Sessions failed to disclose, and because he failed to disclose them, Sessions was forced to recuse himself? Was it the same Washington Post, or a different one?
Tell you what: let's see if Sessions himself personally refutes this story. This "there is no second source" defense is pretty limp-dick, especially coming from a Trump supporter who is the only source of some pretty unbelievable lies. Like $12 a year health care!
That's an understatement.
@lockedout -
You know what I find interesting?
For six straight months anti-Trumpers, like the OP, have been screaming about "the Russians", basically inferring that any person of Russian nationality that has come into contact with President Trump, or anyone he has ever known, is somehow connected to "the Kremlin." They believe all "Russians" are suspect, that you cannot trust ANY Russian or ANYTHING they may say or do. After all, every "Russian" is just a puppet for Putin.
So, now, along comes a story about the former Ambassador for Russia, being spyed on by U.S. intelligence (wait... I thought only Russia did the spying? You mean we do that too?) and they supposedly have Kislyak on tape contradicting Session's statements about his contacts with "the Russians".
Now, I would think that folks like the OP would question the veracity of the Russian Ambassadors account of his meeting with Sessions, given their complete distrust of "the Russians" - but instead they are willing to buy this story hook, line, and sinker. They are willing to betray their convictions, at the drop of hat, because it bolsters their overall narrative - to destroy Trump, at all costs (including their convictions.)
They don't stop to think for one second that Kislyak KNOWS he is being recorded by US intel (hell, we all know from the Flynn intercepts that US intel is recording everyone - and the people being recorded know it as well) and he purposely mischaracterized the meeting specifically to do what the anti-Trumpers scream about - to undermine our democracy. They are so blinded by their hatred for Trump, they don't even realize that they are ones actually being manipulated by Russian propaganda.
As the article said:
In their Quixotic mission to destroy Trump, it is laughable to watch the antii-Trumpers sell out their convictions and beliefs for a measly scrap of leaked intel that was designed to sow the very discord it has.Russian and other foreign diplomats in Washington and elsewhere have been known, at times, to report false or misleading information to bolster their standing with their superiors or to confuse U.S. intelligence agencies.
The only thing that is even of any note in all of this is that, once again, someone in the intel community has committed a MAJOR felony and released classified information. The people leaking the info (just like the phone calls between Trump/Mexico/Australia) need to be arrested, indicted, convicted, and forced to serve the maximum prison penalty with no chance of parole.

Challenge Mode : Play WoW like my disability has me play:
You will need two people, Brian MUST use the mouse for movement/looking and John MUST use the keyboard for casting, attacking, healing etc.
Briand and John share the same goal, same intentions - but they can't talk to each other, however they can react to each other's in game activities.
Now see how far Brian and John get in WoW.
Definitely agree that this is more likely to be a leak from the Trump camp. Sessions was originally considering stepping down but was convinced to stay on. Since then, the situation and optics of the investigation is getting far worse but Sessions recently took a hard stance that he's changed his mind and is adamant about not leaving his post. Now this report a few days later and the fact that Trump has flipped on Sessions publicly and wants him gone because of how badly Sessions's recusal is playing out for him means that it's more likely for Trump's camp to pull something like this.
Outright firing Sessions after the recent comments would be way too suspicious whereas this gives a cover.
Mueller doesn't have anything really to gain by having this leaked. If Trump manages to ram through a sycophant that doesn't recuse themselves and attempts to remove Mueller from his position, it adds more to the obstruction file but makes the affair that much messier. Sessions is a fucking idiot with his own bullshit agenda he's working on the whole time this is all going on, but he's not really impeding the investigation. If anything, he's making their jobs easier since he's continually perjuring himself when it comes to Russia related topics.
2/10
Your conspiracy theory ignores the fact that Trump Jr received an email that explicitly stated Russia was supporting their bid for president. If you're trying to secretly manipulate people you don't inform them in writing that you are trying to do so. Similarly if Sessions were just a pawn in all of this he'd likely have much better memory of it when he testified before congress.
The excuses are getting worse and worse by the day.
