How exactly is this going to work for sites like reddit, imgur, 4chan etc?

    Anyway, stupid law.

How does Brexit voter in any way equal Tory voter? Tories were mostly remainers.

All sites free or not will require an age verification system in place.
Age verification is fine, if they just want some pointless thing asking if you're 18+, but asking to enter card details is just ridiculous.

It was always the moral Tories (which May is part of) that were pulling the strings in the war on porn.

Are you going to need a CC to view reddit now?

Just to put out the technical question again: How useful will a VPN be to get around this stupid law?

Will I be able to access 18+ sites without a credit card if I set my VPN to... France or something? I'm not very techy, I'd assume a VPN would work and the sites won't exactly be eager to block VPN addresses...

Sounds like a great way to put everyone's credit card information at risk for no good reason.

VPN will work. But be careful with the free VPNs as they might not be very secure, don't do anything fancy while connected to it - your traffic may be monitored by some more nefarious persons.

Until Comcast sends you a letter stating "hey we notice you're using encrypted traffic, we'll be limiting your bandwidth to 128kb/s unless you want to upgrade to our Uber Premium Super Duper plan for only a few hundred dollars a month more".

Right thanks. I pay for my VPN and it's worked wonders so far. Just need something to skip over this law until I can get out of this shithole.

So they'd rather more teens just go out and fuck each other for real instead of jacking off to porn? Looks like conservative logic.

Yup, I expect a rise in teen pregnancy and underaged sex in general in the coming years.

Question. How can they possibly do this with any success. There are countless amounts of porn of any category. I could understand how'd they'd be able to ban well known sites like por hub. But that leaves so many other porn sites that are free and amateur.

She'll probably extend the law to ALL sites that feature 18+ content. Or maybe she'll do whatever the country she copied this law from is doing (Hint: Russia).

It saddens me that a Western country like the UK is going the way of China and Russia, but not much can be done about it now except to bail.

Tory voters acting like this was somehow unforeseen, lol.

Its porn... if you want your porn... go buy a dvd, a magazine, or a sub to a website... cheap, cheap people here looking for a free jerk... Or better yet, use your imaginations...

If you read the article the current group that i would dub "please someone think of the children!" finds that this system does not go far enough, so in their eyes this system is the absolute minimum.

And things are not going to get any better, let's assume May is replaced one of the top candidates is Mogg, a person so out of touch with reality that you would think he's a caricature right out of downtown abbey and if you look his political views and who's persons he considers great politicians he puts Trump and Farrage in that list. I am personally a conservative but reading up on that guy he really makes me question what alternate reality he came from.

The view among some conservatives (read prude religious people) is that if you remove the access to this type of media, teens and kids would be less encouraged and stimulated and while i can follow that reasoning to a point since i don't think that much porn that is around now is good for the youth, i think that side of conservatism is really missing the ball if you want to educate children on sex you do not remove or censor porn what you do is actually teach them what sex is beyond the description of the genitalia, but as i said before that group what is prude does not think that is the answer and thinks that we can put the genie back in the bottle what we can't.

Eh, maybe its just me, but I think if they require credit card access to porn sites, that you'll see a major upward trend of credit card fraud after the legislation is pushed through
