Replacement for Radeon HD 7850?

Hey guys, my GPU (Radeon HD 7850) of 4 years has finally busted and I want to take this opportunity to replace it with something better. I don't do any crazy gaming so I don't want to invest too much money into it, thinking about the $250~ range, though lower is better.

Any recommendations? I don't need a high end GPU like I said but I would like something that would be a decent upgrade to that card (or at least similar to it but cheaper or something). Price is my biggest concern really since I don't want to spend too much (though I'm not opposed to spending a bit more as well) Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

1060 3gb or 6gb version would be a huge upgrade for the price range you're looking at. If you're a amd fanboy you could go with the rx470 it's about 10% cheaper but 25-50% worse then the 1060

Something like a 1060 would be perfect for you, even if you paid normal full price, idk what the AMD equivalent is.

Most of them have increased by 50-200% in price because of the mining boom for that new crypto currency.

You could even get a used 1060 for around $100, but I'd question how long it would last.

does 3gb or 6gb matter for those cards? Also is the card much bigger than the Radeon HD 7850? I don't know much about stuff like that and it seems like there's 2 fans on the 1060? If it's much bigger I don't think it can fit in my case. Would it also fit the same slot on my motherboard which is like PCI express 3.0 x16?...I think.

No, 6GB 1060's cost quite a bit more than then 3GB versions and if you were fine with a 2GB 7850 then you'll be fine with a 3GB card based on the logic that you're only replacing it because it died, the 1060 is also twice as powerful.

Depends on both cards, but they should actually be roughly the same size.

If the 7850 fit, the 1060 will.
