Because the only blue post on the matter specifically cited population as ONE of the reasons they aren't playable. Until that is contradicted by another blue post, then EVERY single other race you trot out whom you say has a low population is considered vastly more viable than High Elves.

Don't worry, these discussions come in cycles. It's peaking now because we are probably in the run up to an expansion announcement. This deflates almost immediately after the expansion is announced and High Elves are, yet again, not coming.

That is simply a statement of fact. The story and the world has moved on past the High Elves. Those crying for them want to have their Tolkien fantasy in WoW.
