All this stupid whining. Literally complaining about having to play the game. Gett outta here.

Not complaining myself, but I defend anyone's right to have a little whinge that they feel they need to spend more time doign the parts of the game they dont enjoy so much - in order to get to the bits they do. Personally, I just take it as it comes - but It is occasionally frustrating.

Not to mention attunments which really gated content behind time.
not really, i stopped playing when firelands came out, and started again week before legion launched, not doing mythic raids but doing heroic ToS pretty well
I am in the same position, I don't blame Blizzard though as the majority of people whine that there isnt enough to do, now there is just too much to do, It's always going to be hard to find the balance.
Back in Vanilla - WotLK I wouldn't be as bothered by it, because those were times when I had a very carefree lifestyle, I didn't have a long full time job, I was working minimal hours back then and sometimes would play WoW 24 hours non stop on my days off, now I am older and even on my days off I am too busy for WoW. Logging on, doing a few dailies and saying hello to my guild is all I can manage now lol.
I used to be a super hardcore raider but quit around mid cataclysm, half way through the firelands raid. I came back again during the end of MoP but it from from then on that I wasnt playing like I used to...
Real Life and growing up sucks
I love Warcraft, I dislike WoW
Unsubbed since January 2021, now a Warcraft fan from a distance
If there is nothing to do people will get bored, there will be no glue to keep them playing. On the other hand if there is too much to do the game feels like a drag. Its so tricky to find a good balance in between.
I totally agree, even though legion was/is great to play, its not much friendly for returning players since they have so much to catch up.
The difference is that you only farmed resist gear if you raided. OP is talking about all of the stuff you have to do in order to do open world stuff.
However, I did it when I started. Yes, some of it's annoying on your first toon since AK is slow, etc. But you get AP when you're questing through things and doing the suramar stuff for the first time. Flight is relatively easy to get (2-3 weeks). So, while I agree some of the stuff is boring, esp the class hall missions, it's not THAT bad. Now, doing it a second, third, tenth time? More annoying, but you get AK boosts, so less actual work/time.
1) That is less than a week.
2) That was all done pre 7.2.5 and mostly done in 7.1 ish. So it is much easier now.
3) Artifact levels take 5 hours to do now per level vs the 5 days it was for my DK so that would have been a lot of time saved.
No expansion has EVER given you the option to be fully geared in less time than that, I feel like.

You originally said:
which most people would read as a calendar week. But when challenged about this you then tried to give the impression you meant a week played, giving your own example of 139 hours as evidence of 'minimal effort', something which most normal people would find laughable.
Vanilla player: i wish this game was hard and actually took effort
vanilla players still: i quit because it was too much effort to get back into it.
lololololol
"Classic grinding had MEANING!"
"Legion grinding is STUPID!!"
Meanwhile, the grinds of Classic came down to developers being n00bs rather than some clever strategy and game design. Legion's "grinds" are about as well thought out as they come and the AP "grind" for example comes naturally from just playing the game. But I suppose we're on a fan forum for people bitching about having to play a game to progress in a game that they don't want to play.
Wanna know what a grind is? Grind those damned dusts needed for the dark talbuk mounts.
And no, Legion is not unfriendly in any shape or form. It has the most generous catch-up mechanics of any previous iteration of the game.
