Budget gaming pc for lil cousin

    Hey,

My little cousin wants to build a pc to play games on. He doesn't know just how much he can spend but knows that the games should "look good" and he should be able to record his gameplay. I figured that middle to high settings with stable 60 FPS would be reasonable without having to buy the more expensive stuff.

I put together a PC on PCPP and was wondering if you can look over it and suggest changes if there's anything wrong with it.

    Some pointers:
    - I live in germany
    - he needs everything but a mouse and OS
    - needs WLAN

    What do you guys think?

The build is sort of pointless without knowing a budget. If he can only spend 400, or 600, then there's no purpose to speccing it out.

That said, if it's on a tight budget:
    Skip the keyboard
Skip the WLAN (get a $5-10 one)
    Skip the HDD

That either knocks the price down 120, or 120 can now be put into a better CPU/board and larger SSD. Peripherals (in my opinion) should always have lowest priority when you're below the 'median build' range, since you can always pick those up later without having to rebuild/reinstall.

I just talked to him and he'd be OK with spending 1k on everything.

Do you think that a better CPU would be a good idea? From what I've seen the g4600 seems to handle modern games just fine...

2 core 4 thread on a budget build is good, however if he wants to play modern games with good frame rates, and a budget of 1k, he's getting a raw deal. Either a 7600K, or Ryzen 1600 would be a better choice, and also upgrading the video card to a 1060 or 1070.

The G4600 and 1050ti are literally the "I wouldn't go worse than that" picks. They aren't bad, but it's literally the cheapest things I'd recommend.

Yeah for that price range it's too weak, I was just putting something together that should be able to run modern games on medium and some high settings at 1080p.

I doubt that I can fit a 1070 in a 1k build that includes a display and keyboard (the keyboard is pretty much the only thing he insists on to be included -.-')

I picked the CPU and gpu for the exact same reason, it's the cheapest stuff that I could live with to put in a pc... ^^

My cousin is 12, he does not need a pc that can run everything maxed out and a 12 thread CPU as his first own pc IMO =)

I was going to edit your parts list, but @Hextor did it for me. You can easily OC the R5 1400 to 3.7-3.8Ghz on all cores simply by changing the multiplier.

1K budget doesn't include a Pentium dual core anymore.

I should point out that AMD R9 480 is not available, so its not a viable choice
