There are always plenty of people who want kids. It is not as if there is a shortage of people on our planet.

Depends on how well you do. I'm a DINK (dual income, no kids), and am by no means rich, or even well off in any objective measure, though I do live what I consider to be a comfortable life. (nice car, a few nice possessions, clothes on my back, food on my plate)
My parents expected me to go to college, get a job and move out. They never once said to me they expect me to have kids. In fact, both my retired parents are extremely busy with things they want to do that they barely ever sit and just watch TV or something like that. They are busy every single day, all day. Never once did they say "we expect you to have children. ok? good, now get pregnant."

To answer the OP, I am a DINK but I am in no way rich. Partially due to losing my job well paying job because of a surgery that did not go as planned 2 years ago and also because my husband works in human services. Human services is not known for its pay! However, we have enough to afford what we want, buy games, have 2 working cars, etc. Plus my husband loves his job and I like the one I have made for myself. I don't need to be rich, just have enough to pay bills and have some fun once in a while.
We have enough that we were able to go on vacation, buy VIP tickets to 2 different concerts and buy the games we want. Both my husband and I are very happy with our life. Obviously, I do have more money than if I had children.
On MMO-C we learn that Anti-Fascism is locking arms with corporations, the State Department and agreeing with the CIA, But opposing the CIA and corporate America, and thinking Jews have a right to buy land and can expect tenants to pay rent THAT is ultra-Fash Nazism. Bellingcat is an MI6/CIA cut out. Clyburn Truther.
This is why Germany is importing so many refugees. They need to replace all those children the East Germans didn't have last century. They're repopulate their tax base through immigration. (On the other hand, Japan is going to try wading through their population crash with robot nurses.)
Not having children will in no way make you rich. Being born into the right circumstances is more likely to make you rich than not having a baby.
Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life.
Just, be kind.
Pretty narcissistic and antisocial, if you ask me.
First off, if you want to enjoy a state pension, you have an obligation to have children. Otherwise how do you think it'll be funded?
Second, what a waste your life will be. Yay, you get to indulge yourself - again, how narcissistic. Maybe if you threw yourself into some grand project - and did well at it - I might think differently, but otherwise it just sounds like you're a shallow, selfish person.
Third, you can slash a lot of the costs - as the chart shows, almost the entire increase is down to education - though it says it's not college education, so maybe they're thinking of daycare and private schooling? In that case, home school or send your child to a state school and don't use daycare (that's what your significant other is for).
Fourth, if you really think raising a child is merely an economic calculation, and that all the love and joy and pain and all the rest doesn't count because you can't measure it (let alone in dollars)... you're an idiot.
Still not tired of winning.
Japanese are smart, unlike Germany or Europeans in general. Replacing dying population with welfare recipents isn't exactly great plan for repopulation, but hey, we wuz virtue signaling and stuff.
(and this is just in general, not pointed at you particularly in case you think this was personal)
You need someone to wipe your ass when you get old and feeble. No kids means dirty ass.
I don't think not having kids is selfish.
And even if it is, this is the only life we get, I think it's okay to make a few selfish decision that make you happy (assuming that you're not like, stabbing people for fun). I'm all for furthering society and doing things altruistically, but there's a ton of ways to contribute that aren't purely reproducing.
I have a huge list of reasons for not wanting kids, and most of them are because I have genes that shouldn't be passed and considering my problems, would be a terrible parent. I will babysit my cousin's kids and I will donate money and help out research- I'll contribute in other ways.
I don't suddenly find my life meaningless because I wont have children- life is what you make it. I'll decide what is meaningful to me- just like you decide what is meaningful to you.
This is quite literally a case of "to each his/her own" imho.
By not spending money, you save money? Who would have thought...
The you earn more money than what you spend, life becomes very depressing lol. The fun of money is when you don't have much of it.
There's nothing "narcissistic and antisocial" about living life the way you want.
There's no "obligation" to do any such thing. That pension is earned through working, not by having kids.
Yeah, "narcissistic", "shallow" and "selfish", those words don't work like you think they do.
