Most tap water isn't clean enough for homebrew. I actually need to get mine tested to see whether I can use it. Lugging around 5 gallons of water in Culligan jugs is a pain in the ass. I'd rather just get a hose and go straight from my tap. I know it's UV filtered, but I don't know what the chemical properties are like.
