Despite the OP's nonsensical ramblings, I agree with the sentiment of the thread title. At least the republicans of yore came off as sane and seemingly well meaning, if misguided, individuals.

Now they're just "burn everything, cut-off-the-nose-to-spite-the-face" individuals whose only platform is "who can we make you scared of" and "what pisses off the liberals the most?" with utter disregard to the actual well-being of the country.


I suppose if any good comes of this it'll be the fact that people will become aware of the notion that "yes, electing a man-child with no clue as to what he's doing CAN actually be that bad."

The problem is is that the republicans didn't replace any of their old unpopular ideas with new, more popular ideas or update their platform or make it more palatable in any way. (what, exactly, IS Trump's platform?)

If you read the article he wrote those things before anyone really knew what was going on in Germany. In the 1930's most people would have thought of Hitler as a brilliant leader because he brought Germany back from the brink of collapse.
