Definitely not releasing before summer, not possible.

Say it is announced at blizzcon, that is 12 months (presuming no mop schedule or cata lateness) will probably release october or november.

Why? We don't even know how much of the next expansion is created yet. We need an Alpha/Beta to first know how much is done and how much is left to do.
They doubled their dev team for Legion. Legion released late after WoD because they had to train all those new devs. Now those are trained and in full dev mode. They can pump out content faster than before (proof is the 77 days patch release, every streamers/youtubers who cover Legion all all saying they have no time to breath between ptr and live content cover videos.)

There is no way it will release before september unless they go against history which is possible (like what legion did for announcements).

Beta would have to start the second after the announcement for a reasonable length.

They can just shorten the beta don't worry, 3 months for beta is fine right?

Wonder what else will fill the time.

any other ip they have, new ip, mythic+ thingy...... blizzard is MORE then just wow no matter how much mmoc ppl wanna reduce blizzard to be only wow....

We already now 7.3 is the last patch of Legion. Even holding Antorus back doesn't change that it's going to be close to 16 months for new non raid content now.

can you please link the source to prove your LIE that 7.3 is the last patch?
ofc you cant because 7.3 aint the last as there will be 7.3.5 and after gamescon we know if there might be a 7.4

There is no real reason to reveal the expansion at any blizzcon by that logic.

It is the normal average time to announce one, you cannot deny this is the longest wait for a new one in history.

7.3 isn't their biggest content patch ever. That's how they described 7.2, by the way.

It has a couple of sub-zones, which is great. But landmasses doesn't automatically mean more content. We could be in for a few hours of cool content followed by 12 months of time-gating, grind, and frustration.

I would argue being realistic leads one to conclude Gamescom is a likely place for an announcement. They did it last time and it worked well, they need to make room at BlizzCon because they now have 6 games' worth of content to announce, and it fits the timeline of announcements and releases.

This is the best outcome, but it may not be likely.

Let's pretend 8.0 is announced wednesday, then we would only have 9/10 months of drought (assuming no extra patches).

So again, i hope the mop like release is likely.
