Why did she cry over the robot? It just ran out of battery...
This was the worst short of them all. Really dull.
She was sad because without the robot, she was truly all alone. Of course she could recharge the battery, but only after she got the message and then left the base, which she had to do alone.
For me, this was easily the best short. I don't like Mei as a character in-game, but I thought this story was really well done.

It was exactly as that guy leaked on 4chan.... I was thinking.... oh my god its gonna be the part me and those people on reddit joked would be as depressing as hell to see.... and then I saw it and it was just as depressing as I imagined
Was a very nicely done short. The robot having to give up its battery for the base was a bit contrived, but gave Mei a bit of characterization.
Basically an inferior "The Last Bastion"
I cried a bit. Not as much as on The Last Bastion
I felt the same. "The Last Bastion" evoked far more emotion in half the time without a single line of dialogue, with a character that barely had a face to emote with.
This short was overstuffed with exposition. And honestly, I don't think Mei's voice actress has the chops. She's great when it comes to cute one-liners and snarky puns during a match, but she can't carry a 10-minute short packed with (mostly unnecessary) dialogue.
Animated extremely well, of course. It's Blizzard, after all.

Don't really care for the voice acting. Doesn't seem like she was experienced enough to pull this off.
But it just needed to be recharged, something she apparently had no difficulty with with a simple solar panel...

Excuse me? I didn't like it you the first thing you do is insult me?
Where is the depth here? Is it deep simply because she found dead people? I honestly don't understand.
Its sad and all , till you meet her in a match , then you just wish it was her pod that malfunctioned >.>
I agree with you completely. I felt no connection with this one. No real stakes either. Her friends where all dead and that was the only emotional hook. The robot just gave up the charge it had and it was played as if it was some kind of giant sacrifice, when she could just wait for the storm to die down and put a solarpanel on it...
Bastion's short was a dark story with emotional weight. All of Bastions friends are dead in a brutal, world-spanning war that Bastion still felt the after-effects of.
Genji and Hanzo had that story of betrayal, redemption and regret, and how both of them cope with what happened. That stuff was heavy.
Mei's friends died in cryostasis and her robot lost battery charge until she just had to wait for sunlight again?
Come to think of it, the Sombra short was also rather bad, but still had a bit more than this one.
I know, I'm being harsh, but I thought I'd motivate what I feel.

best part of the short: confirmation Mei has a normal, human female figure.
If we don't get that outfit as a skin i will be highly upset lol
I mean, it was sad and all...
Then I met a Mei in a game and I still wanted nothing more than to kill her as fast as humanly possible.
