She didn't make a single threat. But if that's your opinion go with it. It was definitely in poor taste but many comedians do dark comedy which crosses the line every day. For example, Dave Chapelle. His comedy is as offensive as it gets but it's funny.

She paid for her comic in the court of public opinion. CNN knew 100% that she was running the stunt and they still threw her under the bus.
