More like they wanted to catch him with drugs in his system so that it would be impossible for him to sue because they've got a policy about high speed chases.

Not trying to side with the police here, because he was clearly in the wrong, but...

Isn't it a weird policy to not be allowed to draw blood from someone unconcious? Isn't that something that needs to be done to run tests to see if the person suffers from anything or have taken anything that might cause problems when trying to help them? What if it's a John Doe with no known relatives?

The hospital doing it so they can take care of the person isn't what was happening though. It was the police wanting it to run for drugs and alcohol, entirely different. She was protecting his 4th amendment right.

So the policy is not about the inability to draw blood, but to draw blood to hand it over to the police? It wasn't clear in the article that there was a difference.

In the article, it mentions that the detective was part of a police phlebotamist program, and HE wanted to draw the blood from the hospital patient. The nurse was stopping the officer from drawing the blood, not refusing to draw it and provide it herself.

I don't really understand how people who willfully contort authority keep being given access to said authority. I thought training was rigorous and understanding of rights, limitations and punishment crystal clear.

Maybe it's the information age, but this seems to be so common. People acting out and breaking laws they are supposed to stand for and uphold.

Things aren't trending any particular direction because 1 person made a decision for millions of others. How many years were they able to buy surplus before Obama? Does it even matter? What are they going to do, start a war because they are ex-military items and the weapons bloodlust must be satiated on the blood of the innocent? When exactly does one gun suddenly because more dangerous in the hands of a police officer than another gun?

On topic, the nurse will be fine and the police officer is an idiot trying to scare someone into doing what he wants.

No need to defend the shittiest president in history in every thread, mate.
James Buchanan has been dead for over 140 years. Who is defending him?

Yeah buddy. I sure bet. If he was then he wouldn't have arrested the Nurse. Police are your guilty until you prove you are innocent. these days.

Victim was an off duty cop involved in a head on collision With a person running from cops.

Porter and Wubbels declined to release information about the patient, but Payne’s report identifies him as 43-year-old William Gray, a reserve officer in the Rigby, Idaho, Police Department, who suffered burns during a July 26 crash in Cache County.Gray is a truck driver when he is not serving as a reserve police officer, according to the Idaho State Journal.
At about 2 p.m. on July 26, Gray was driving a semi north on State Road 89/91 near Sardine Canyon when a man fleeing from the Utah Highway Patrol crashed a pickup truck into him head-on, according to Logan police, who investigated the collision.

Why does no one read before making stupid statements?

It's almost as pathetic as refusing to acknowledge anything wrong with God Emperor Trump by trying to bring up Obama or Hillary to avoid the topic.

Ok, so they decided to arrest her, they are probably in deep shit. But FOR FUCKS SAKE is it really necessary to screech and scream when you are being arrested in america? They are not going to stop arresting you, anyone that gets involved could well land themselves in jail even in a wrongful arrest so calling for help is borderline retarded. Seriously why get so hysterical.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

For some it can be a pretty dramatic experience. Not to mention how lives have been completely messed up from just an arrest. Even if they weren't convicted of anything later on.

I agree that resisting arrest never goes well. That said being upset about potentially facing a strip search, having to deal with a lawyer, incarceration for an undetermined amount of time (especially for someone with obligations) seems warranted. It'd be different if she had planned to make a stand that day and should be prepared for arrest but she didn't and wasn't.
