Almost looks like 40k Marine more than the firebat.
The lack of helmet gives me pause.

It is a Stacraft II design where the helmet is different, here is a picture.
I never played Starcraft II myself, but I think Firebats are supposed to be tougher units so I guess a Warrior role in HotS?

its funny because the story of starcraft revolves around heros who are usually heroic units of unites that are easily killable and extremely fragile in game.
he could be a warrior but i'm thinking they'd default to assassin, mid range (like Cassia) aoe assassin. They DO change things based on what the game needs or what they want to do rather than being 100% true to it. so they could make him a mid range warrior, or a 'specialist" for minion control since their entire point is flame throwing groups of zerg.
for example choice of talents to increase minion killing, sige dmg of his guns , or single target.
i'm like 60% sure that like with others they are going to combine him with a maurader since they are the same thing with different weapons basically. all the terran unites have heroics or abilities that invoke entirely different unites
Romance doesnt detract from a story. Its a Genre, like horror or comedy or adventure. The game was ruined when we got Horror in drustvar or nazmir. It wasnt ruined when we had funny quests. So if you think a little man on man love ruins the game, then yes you are either a homophobe or just a spoil sport that goes "ewww kissing is yucky" like a baby. Furthermore, if a character has never expressed interest in any gender, then its not proof they are straight. straight people are not the default
In SC2, the Firebats were a melee-ranged flamethrowing splash unit. They were tanky to a degree. I'd say it will probably be a Ranged Tank with conal auto attacks (Swiping flamethrower from left to right, or something along those lines) with DoT components. I'd probably guess it'll be a disruption/DoT based, with slows from burns.
That said, Sgt. Hammer has Widow Mines, which are an entirely different Unit in SC2 made from the same building (Factory). Maybe they'll give the Firebat something from another unit from the Barracks. A quick look at the abilities from those units, maybe the EMP Round from Ghosts (Turn it into a grenade) that shuts down Shields or Concussive Rounds from Marauders (Turn it into a Stun/Root if they're already slowed).
Alternatively, they could spice it up and make it a Mulit-class. Helions and Hellbats can interchange, maybe Helion Assassin and Hellbat tank? Maybe your Ult lets you change.
Hammers spider mines are 100% borrowed from Vultures. They don't even function as widow mines. EMP grenade (and grenades in general) already taken by Morales.
I'm positive that they'll turn Firebat into short ranged burst character (original starcraft style) with some suicidal abilities mixed in and option to talent into tanking.

While I never played Starcraft, just by the looks of the Firebat unit I would expect/want short ranged, ability damage based, aoe tank. Basically a mage tank would be cool.
