I know mods have their own lives and all but the spam is very annoying. If you say reporting posts is the thing to do why in the world does it keep happening? It's a routine. Have a Global check this forum and shutdown the spammers. No need to report something that happens nearly every hour.

This thread is probably misplaced, but here is an idea:

Maybe they should allow some form of public votes for spam which would hide threads after a certain number of votes before they are checked by the mods. The mods would then check hidden threads, delete threads that have been hidden correctly, restore threads that have been hidden wrongly (and maybe take away voting rights from those who voted for them temporarily - like, for a week, to reduce potential abuse; maybe this is not even necessary). There might be easy protections for normal threads in that any thread more than 1 day old / half-day old wouldn't ever be hidden in that way.

Pros: no additional work on part of the mods - they would have to review the same number of threads they have to dig through now, just in a separate pile. Spam threads will be hidden immediately.

Cons: there is code to write.

I frequent MMO-C mostly and the black magic spam has been going on for years now; the problem is that its become hourly now. It used to go up on every early morning but now yeah, that's the issue here.

Well I'm no black magic specialist but maybe the bots pick up stuff like "magic" or "spells" on the gaming sites and nuke them?
