Pewdiepie is becoming mainstream and is now subject to the level of scrutiny and censure that other people in the mainstream view are.

This is why TV is so sanitised. Youtube used to be a Wild West nobody gave a shit about so you could get away with anything. Now, at least for the most visible Youtubers, that's no longer the case.

Most of the people defending Pewdiepie are not equipped to adult, or failed at it and now want something to blame.

Retard and dumbass are both inherently derogatory terms. As much as weirdos are trying to pretend retard isn't, but it's very definition it is an insult, and thus properly used in that context.

Terms referring to race, ethnicity, or other aren't insults in and of themselves, therefore using them as one can only imply that you find the group they're associated to inferior. Intention in this case doesn't actually matter - by using the N word as an insult your are denigrating black people.

But British people say the word "fag" often, referring to a smoke, and I have used it as well in that context. Whilst I wouldn't use that word to insult someone, I wouldn't place it up there with the N-word.

If there is a context where using the N-word is inherently bad, it would be when one uses it as a means of insult... Friends saying "my nigga" to one-another don't exactly match that context.
