    Is that a serious question?

That's it. Tyrande is literally Illidan's entire motivation. He seeks the Legion's end so it wouldn't threaten Azeroth anymore. And the only reason he gives a shit about Azeroth is because Tyrande happens to live there.

I feel like he's also doing it just for the achievement itself.

He was always depicted as trying to find his purpose in life, competing with Malfurion and trying to impress everyone.

He probably considers stopping the Legion his crown achievement.
Being Sargeras' jailor does sound good on super hero resume

I really wish they got rid of that dumb trope when they reworked some of his lore. I was pretty bothered when they dropped the "Tyrande" in that cinematic.

I'm not really convinced of that. If being some admired and revered superhero was his most pressing concern than going along with Xe'ra's plan was the way to go. Even the Illidan's novel mentions the fact that Xe'ra's vision pretty much summarized what Illidan always used to desire. Being Sargeras' eternal jailer is an absolutely underwhelming option in comparison. Xe'ra herself rightfully pointed that out.

If there's one thing that didn't need to be "reworked" is Illidan's love for Tyrande. That was a constant factor that never changed whatsoever.

I don't mind it being in his history, I just hope they don't keep referencing it going forward.

its surprising that there isn't anything about Tyr/Mal/Illi in this expansion.

Indeed night elves only play a part in the ,val'sharah story line. You don't really see them do anything significant after and you don't really care. I mean who gives a fuck. Night elves were always a 3 man show although ,Ollie an is more demon than night elf and he was missing till 7.2

So no. You won't see Malfurion again and you won't care

Hahaha. I too am with the same sentiment... How can you not get it when before he's entombed and his soul buggers off, his last thought and breath is Tyrande?!

it was a longer than 6 years between WC III TFT and Cataclysm. Not 5000 years of course, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't 6.
