The first one wasn't great. I'd prefer a reboot. more solid foundation for sequels

    they will never make one.
The movie wasn't a lose, but it didnt make money, a studio can make an animated movie with half the cost and half the time and make more money than warcraft, plus there is no real merchandise
    Be feared, or be fuel

A Mists of Pandaria Warcraft movie would be awesome and another cash cow in Asia.

Well, problem is that it wasn't a success in NA.

Even though studios often make more money in China, they mainly care about movie's performance in domestic market, so if a movie flops there it's treated as a failure in general.

Only if it doesn't follow the stupid orcs and Thrall again. Nobody cares about poor Thrall and his life in slavery. I want Arthas story, that's the story worth telling.

I just wish it had been a CG movie that didn't take itself so seriously.

It did break even. Budget was 160 million $ with box office being 433.7 million $

However this is mostly because of China. The movie was a huge success in China.

Also it did really well in the east I believe.
It would most likely be about young'ish Thrall. I don't believe they'd do a Tides of Darkness movie. They might try to combine Tides of Darkness with Lord of the Clans into some awful amalgamation.

I always found Arthas least interesting since his story is basically Anakin Skywalker

oh damn, the story of shao hao in porn CGI *-*
or the pandaren revolution with a pandaren mao tze tung *-*
or, with a bit of courage, the fucking life of lei shen and his road to power and fall

    damn, now i can dream

Sequel will probably never happen, luckily. The movie was fucking awful.

If they ever make a Warcraft movie again, they need to do it in-house in full cgi. And before you start with "they need real actors and it would take too long", I don't wanna fucking hear it. The cgi cinematics for the game up until now didn't need real actors, and Gul'dan in the WoD cinematic looks better than Gul'dan in the movie. Way better. Figure it the fuck out, or don't make movies anymore.

    What?

I would say its the otherway around, i dont really care much fo critics in any movie.

If critics and the publics says different things ill go with the public anyday.

It did very well in China though.

It is too bad they started out with the Warcraft 1 story.

That the depends, if they have a longterm goal to start up a franchise.

But maybe then u shouldent have a big budget for the first movie, instead incresing it as it goes.

They could easily sink $500 million into a sequel and only make back $350 million. Most sequels take in less money than the original, some take in a LOT less. Not worth the risk. The Warcraft films have the potential to outright bankrupt a studio if it winds up costing $600 million and takes in only $185 million.
TO FIX WOW:1. smaller server sizes & server-only LFG awarding satchels, so elite players help others. 2. "helper builds" with loom powers - talent trees so elite players cast buffs on low level players XP gain, HP/mana, regen, damage, etc. 3. "helper ilvl" scoring how much you help others. 4. observer games like in SC to watch/chat (like twitch but with MORE DETAILS & inside the wow UI) 5. guild leagues to compete with rival guilds for progression (with observer mode).6. jackpot world mobs.

Arthas'/WC3 story has it's complications too. If it were just the Scourge, it could work well enough for a movie. But the story also involves the other antagonist force in the Burning Legion.

I really want another warcraft movie. I was highly skeptical of the first one, but I liked it quite a bit.

So, while Warcraft did well there, it doesn't necessarily mean it was because the Chinese audiences loved the movie. It's very likely did so well over there because only so many movies are approved to be seen, and Warcraft was a big budget Blockbuster, which attracted a huge audience, not to mention, the advertising for it was huge over there. Which isn't surprising, given that the movie was also financed by a few Chinese movie production companies.

It's also a smart move - business wise - to make a movie that's also approved to be shown in China, since many people over there are somewhat desperate to see these huge movies and will go to the movie theater.

"China has no motion picture rating system, and films must therefore be deemed suitable by Chinese censors for all audiences to be allowed to screen."
That is a very good point, I hadn't thought of that.
