Whilst I agree that the dictionary does not have a monopoly, I'd also argue that it's considerably less smart to simply invent connotations and expect other people to catch your meaning. It's a lot more sensible and leads to a lot less confusion all-around to stick to the accepted norm.

Which option would you say is smarter? To choose appropriate words which the vast majority of people will easily be able to understand what you're trying to convey, or by choosing words which have little to no relevance, words that a minority of people abuse, but the majority do not?

Those people you claim aren't as smart as they think they are actually have the right idea, because there's a reason words exist. To convey specific things clearly. When we start blurring the lines, language as a whole becomes more convoluted and far less efficient, and leads to far more misunderstandings between individuals.
I guess you could interpret my logic as Red = Blue if you ignore the image in the OP, and take my statement at face value without considering the context. However, that's not the kind of argument I was making.

For example, consider a topic that routinely pops up on this forum: Capitalism vs. Socialism. Inevitably an argument breaks out about what the word socialism means. Socialism is an abstract term, and the meaning of the word has evolved along with the political landscape. Not only has the meaning of the word shifted over the last century, but there is also a vast web of ideological thought that can trace their roots to the word socialism. It's not easy to summarize a word like that in a sentence or two. Dictionaries are great tools when it comes to understanding a new word, or to clarify what a word means, but they don't hold complete semantical knowledge. With that said, you can always count on someone to link the Webster Online definition of socialism in an attempt to lock down the word to one absolute meaning.

I don't have anything against using dictionaries; they're excellent reference tools. I'm also in favor of people using precise language when communicating, and to avoid being intentionally vague. However, I was commenting on the pretentious simple mindedness in the OP's image.

On the other hand, it's absolutely HILARIOUS how triggered you people get when others act just. like. you.

The word "toxic" seems to be used by Progressives (Regressives) who seem to think that by censoring people we will somehow make a nice place for everyone to live. This is Utopian thinking I think because people seem to always find reasons to be awful to one another and I don't see this changing, ever tbh. There are no set of dials we can twist that will make everyone happy and be nice with one another. Or even improve it from another previous state. I think sometimes trying to make these adjustments can cause resentment from people who don't like to feel they are being controlled or at least have more rules and regulations dumped on them from living in civilized and organized societies where a labyrinth of rules await everyone that deals with government, their employer and their housing association etc. I think it gaming, these people can live in a world that is "free" - an ethical vacuum if you will where you can call people absurdly offensive terms and get away with it. When people want to bring the matrix of real world rules into the "shitlord sandbox" then it can cause big disagreements.

I have always wondered myself why people get angry or upset from reading text from random people they have never met and likely to never meet again. It is not like when we meet people in real life and then suss out what offends and annoys the other and try to compromise our language and behavior so that you can have friendly discussions and be civil. I don't have to have a "relationship" with my LOL teammates. I don't expect anything from them and when they annoy me I hit ignore and move on. I try to be nice, but nobody is perfect.

It is even worse when the Utopian moral busybodies want to delve into art and videogames and turn the dials of social engineering by casting minorities or other oppressed social groups. They seem to think that if they get the right mixture of identities in a television show or videogame then they can end racism or sexism forever. And that is OK with me as long as it does not ruin the quality of the story or dialogue. But when it becomes transparent that one is being preached to in their entertainment then people will resent it. A football game or a video game is leisure time for people who want to take a break from politics and "real world" concerns. For some people talking about politics in wow trade chat is fun and the biggest complaint I hear is "Oh no not politics again"

Oh, I'm just trying to figure out which "woke" account is your main.

Or are you going to try and say this is your first time on these forums? The hypocrisy of people on the right trying to whine about such things is hilarious.

Basically, I'm just confused as to why this post is needed as misuse of the word does not seem to be much of an issue.
Wouldn't be surprised if the OP was someone who was banned because they went against forum rules on race/sex/gender/religion etc trying to push a narrative that would belong on Stormfront or TheDonald and now using an Alt account to try to troll or turn Gen OT into an echo chamber for the alt right that seem to frequent Gen OT more and more. (Also make posts crying about Endus.)

And what exactly is "you people"? Hurling random epithets at random people isn't exactly smart thing to do. That's why assuming projection in this kind of situation is reasonable. Why are you so angry?

    You.

    You and those like you.

    Hence "you people."

A very common term with a very easily understood context. Unless you're one of you people, then even a basic grasp of English is a genuine challenge. Hell, you people can't even grasp that you're the whiny little turds who started the whole thing, and instead think you're the heroic, martyred victims. It's beyond pathetic... and, honestly, extremely embarrassing that you can't even see it. It's not even a concept you can imagine, let alone realize.

"RAAAAAAAAWR, Y U ASK FOR MUSTARD, OBAMA?!?!?! IMPEAAAAACCCCHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I R SENSIBLE, UPSTANDING CITERZAN OF U.S., NOT YOU KENYAN!!!! ILLEGAL PRASIDANT!!!!!!! RAAAAAAAAWRRRRRRR!!!"
