in multiple of those countries homosexuality has death punishment so why so surprised when he had so many other countries to choose from where he could grab other men as much as he liked.
Often these sorts of charges are brought simply because those involved didnt pay a bribe.

    pls educate yourself.

for those who cba to click:
"The countries that impose these penalties are Afghanistan, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritania, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. With the exception of Pakistan, those countries all allow for capital punishment against apostasy, i.e., the renunciation of a particular religion. Pakistan, meanwhile, imposes the death penalty for blasphemy, which can obviously include disbelief in God. "

And what classes as "talking shit about Islam"? Any logical, reasoned discussion of religion could be seen as trying to convert people and could face apostasy charges (and thus potential execution).

The scary part is that they rarely even punish people for blasphemy. As soon as the accusations are public, mob-rule will often see the person killed long before any trial.

the german guy said he sexual assaulted him
    Some parts of that article....

Mr Harron has also been charged at Dubai Court of Misdemeanours with publicly indecency by flashing his middle finger, a gesture deemed rude at worst in the west but one that can carry severe consequences here.
But a person convicted of flashing their middle finger will face a hefty fine and an imprisonment period from three months to three years.
Oh noes, he showed a FINGER in public! Hang him!

In addition, he was charged at the lesser court with consuming alcohol without a licence, a charge that is rarely seen on its own but is often tagged on by prosecutors when other offences are at play. The charge is a legal grey area when applied to tourists as they cannot obtain a licence to drink alcohol from authorities when they are not resident in the country.
    ..wat?

    No, seriously, WAT?!

Dubai dosent have sharia law, its probably just a local that got triggered, you think there isnt a case in the US of a woman getting bumped at work saying an employee sexually harrassed her? maybe the local was a closet homosexual and liked it so much he wants to do this to prove he isnt or something

There is more to this story, I have been to the Emirates before both Dubai and Abu Dhabi and everyone is extremely friendly and polite. If any of you faux-outraged xenophobes read the actual news story from a legitimate source then you would no doubt be aware that the person he sexually harassed is pressing charges which is why the Scottish man was arrested in the first place. This happens in the US and Western europe all the time, go and ask a police officer about how many people give them calls or 'anonymous tips' about supposed harassment.

Probably got mouthy with authorities when being arrested. Then after legal/pr counsel was told to make a comment about brushing his hand against a man to gain sympathy.

Even in america those 2 charges go hand in hand.
