The girl scouts tend to not really be scouts but just a cookie vendor that uses little girls as the sellers. The two organizations are very, very, very difference.

Boys should be allowed to sell cookies if they want though.

Change it to scouts of America and then we can catch up to the rest of the world. But a name change alone really isn't that easy given how much of a hard on people have for "tradition" over here

If I can be honest, I am pretty surprised this is only happening now.
Girls should have the same opportunities in cases like this + the scout is very learnfull.

This split is more, i think, of an American thing.

I was in the scouts for a few months in the mid/late 90s and it was mixed. The only existing split at the time was girls and boys sleeping spaces being, obviously, divided.

Personally I don't care. I would hope they don't lower their standards though.

The problem is the standard of the girl scouts. ( meaning what do they do, how much money etc)

Apparently girl scouts get less money, the cookie sales do not make that much, its a hassle and allot of forms to do stuff and they do not do( or almost nothing at all) boy scout things like camping, learning nature skills. ( this is the reason most people give). I think Philip Defranco told the story of a women who had a boy in boy scouts her hubby as leader there, and she and her daughter where girl scouts. And she told them that the boy scouts have more fun things to do , more money etc.

So if girl scouts where less of a hassle,
they did boy scout things and they got more money this would not happen...

But my guess is its being sold as by the right: Gender pushing by the left etc..

Yes its called girl scouts...
But the difference is huge in most cases. ( as far as i have heard).

Apparently boy scout do scout things , camping trips, earning nature badges etc.
Girl scouts are more cookie sellers and do way less of the stuff boy scouts do ( what they want to do).
They also say that girl scouts have WAY less money, And its more paperwork for troop mothers.
