Realistically, anyone can.
Just because someone is a black trans woman doesn't mean they have had the same "experience" as Marsha P Johnson.
Ofcourse, there will always be the vocal minority (who ironically probably aren't from minorities) who would rather theses stories not be told at all, because the people involved in making it aren't like them.
To me that sounds like discrimination, but hey, i'm just a cis white male, what do I know?
I would imagine whoever gets the rights to the story is the one who tells it.
O Flora, of the moon, of the dream. O Little ones, O fleeting will of the ancients. Let the hunter be safe. Let them find comfort. And let this dream, their captor, Foretell a pleasant awakening
Is anyone surprised by this? Anyone at all? At this point, you can't even parody them anymore as the real version is more extreme.
Being a member of the LGBT community I have seen so much hate and backlash from the trans community if you don't come to fully support them no matter what they do. If you don't share the same beliefs as them, you're part of the bad guys out to get them. I know about this because I've been the target of such attacks from the trans community for not supporting some of their beliefs as well as my boyfriend being the target. This story about Marsha P Johnson is a story about the start of the gay rights movement not just a story about a transgender/drag queen. David France has just as much "right" to tell the story as Reina Gossett does. Truth be told, there is nothing stopping either of these people from making their respective films. They are different types of films and will tell different stories in them. Gossett is making a SHORT film that didn't even necessarily happen while France is making a feature length documentary about actual events in Johnson's life.
I am, I've been doing it for a while.

Really, preference should be given to someone from Transylvania.
With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
We live in a time where we have news coverage that cites random angry twitter poster with a one liner, and I'm not talking about the orange ape in in the white looney bin in washington with the dome-shaped roof. We are long past the point where a random forum post is basis for something, the media has steeped already way lower.
Edit: @Topic, the one that should by all means be closed since it violates the forum rules: I don't care who plays the character in a drama I have no intention of ever watching, because the basic premise has so little going for it already, it makes something like a rom-com about 4 dudes (make them black, white, yellow and red for diversity as well) planning a gay orgy for their porn debut look like oscar bait. You can have that one for free hollywood .
Edit2: Poor Topic guy, but sorry I won't change my style now because someone thought it would be funny to use a known way to adress things for another way to get peoples attention without actually quoting them.

Pretty sure she is. /shrug. The "You can't say/think/feel/do that!!" part of the left makes me mildly embarrassed to be part of the "maybe the capitalists shouldn't have literally everything?" part of the left.
Sorry this stayed open when it should have been closed ASAP. Gender and race threads arent allowed
