Latest projection for the result:
I have to say, I am quite surprised. I didn't expect the SPÖ to actually manage to come in second.

Well that went reasonably well from my perspective of a neighbour. But we will see how much of what Kurz said was real and how much just rhetoric.
The best news is of course the green khmers being kicked out of parliament.
But we still need to see if there isn't another postal vote fraud of course.
I think it is still a little too close to call whether the greens are out or make it. The election threshold in Austria is 4%...
But if their end result is really 3.9% thats gotta sting, especially since Pilz will make it.
To be fair, they are indeed not out yet. They are only missing 0.1%.
Definitely. They aren't openly blaming Pilz, but if they drop out now, the whole Pilz ordeal was literally suicide for them.
Curious to see what will happen now, though. With the SPÖ being second, I wonder if Kurz is more likely/inclined to try and get them onboard again.
Can't wait to get called Nazi on every occasion now.
Again, ynnady, what do you call ''LEFTIST'' ? Anyone to the left of Bwana Hitler ?
I hate to tell you that, but he kinda lost his aryan crusade of racial purity against ''judeo-bolshevists''>
BTW, I know thinking is not exactly a lionized thing for MAGAboys (where reading skills above Winnie the Pooh is judged suspect), but dumb question, do you actually believe that swastiska-flying far righters would consider as human being Eastern Europeans, while the ones licked by MAGAboys had a list in which ''Jews'' were number one and ''Slavs'' number two ?
(Oh yeah, you are going to pretend that ''Dacians'' are in fact Aryans-good look with that, dude. The most ''aryan'' people in your country are Roms)

Of course, Ynnady. Of course. Romania will purge the word of Jews, liburals, and Arubs. What is really cute is that you seem persuaded that your beloved Nazis considered your own people ''white''...or that, as we are in perpetual insults, that Romania ever mattered for anyone.

Can anyone explain wtf is this guy talking about? Roms are more aryan than romanians and then some jews are in the discussion all of a sudden, then we have the magaboyz.
Ive been infracted 100 times for "trolling", wtf is this guy doing right here? I cant understand wtf is he talking about. Enuds you.... wtf are you doing?
As you love insulting people, I just casually mention you that Roms actually speakin an ''aryan'' (from the Indian peninsula) language and for people remotely coherent they would be WAY more ''Aryans'' than people from Scandinavia or Germany. Yeah dude, yeah. Roms are way more ''aryan'' than Nazi cosplayers.
Why this insult you ?
Oh, and I also casually recalls that the last time the far right was in power in Europe, they carved your country like a turkey, and handed pieces of it to Hungary, Bulgaria and Soviet Union, then used 300 000 Romanian as meatshields, before 50 years of communism. That does not strike me as a very good deal.
I suppose you are too intelligent to notice that FPO (like the Front National or other garbage parties) got well above 20% several times already....they are always JUST ABOUT to win and the usual suspects always trumpet that ''the holy race war'' is just about to start....
Dude, I know that you assume it's subtle, but that you mean UR UR UR, FIRS TICKET TO DUH GAS CHAMBER is blindingly obvious to anyone.
Again, what kind of fan-fiction have Romania not carved up by their german ''allies'' ? Ones in which anyone, Soviet or Axis, cares one bit about what Romanians think ?

and for the sake of your nerves, ignore Sarahtasher.
Depends on how you see it, I suppose. The SPÖ actually did quite decent, and better than a lot of people would have expected - almost all polls projected that the FPÖ would have a somewhat comfortable lead on them and come in second.
That said, the Greens possibly dropping out does come as somewhat of a surprise. It was obvious that they would suffer heavy losses at the hand of Pilz and some of their own mistakes, but most probably thought they would at the very least make it into the parliament again. Personally, I wouldn't be sad either way.
It's going to be interesting to see what happens now, though. ÖVP+FPÖ seems to currently be the more popular variant among the population, and some statements Kurz made over the evening would suggest that he is at least seriously considering it.

You have to keep in mind that the SPÖ does have a huge quantity of voters from state operated companies such as the ÖBB (national railway company), unions and officials/puplic officers/clerks (whatever they are called). I do have friends who work either @ ÖBB or in our city government, they admit that they fear losing their jobs if they openly favour other candidates. Well, it's somewhat reasonable. And its pretty hard to get a job in government unless you have a "friend" (aka corruption, seems to be a thing with SPÖ [Freunderlwirtschaft]).
Also, they heavily campaign in retirement homes and such. Keep telling pensionist that they will lose their quality of life if they don't vote red.... (actually really sad).
About Die Grünen, well only "specialists" thought they will stay in (the) Nationalrat. Their problem is: they live in their own echochamber. It isn't just with Pilz alone, it's their political program, their worldview, the people they associate with (or no longer, at least they say) - reminder: "Die jungen Grünen" which openly admit that they are communists .... and their double moral standards.
If I read correctly that you live in Sweden, let me show you how Die Grünen campaigned: link to Die Presse (Pictures) . They suggested we should vote for a women just because she is a women. No context. Also, theiir primary point was to impede the FPÖ (blau verhindern). Basically shouting brown and Nazi once more. I think many of the younger and midle aged people are sick of being called Nazi or rascist, just because we have different views. But that proves the point that Die Grünen can't operate without fearmongering. And thats not enough.

Regarding Kurz / ÖVP: The better option _is_ the FPÖ. The SPÖ showed (and got worse [dirty campaigning]) that they do not want to change. But the people want change!
Sorry for my lenghy reply!
