While Court Justice remains innocent until proven guilty

The problem with the "justice system" is though that if there's no way for the victim to prove the assault, then the "justice system" is 100% impotent. That, however, does not mean the assault did not take place. Having said that, obviously there shouldn't be mob justice, and having the power to destroy someone's life simply by accusing them is a dangerous thing.

So what's the solution, then? Victims of sexual assault and rape should just shut up, after they've gone to the police, who have told them that there's nothing to be done? Just go home and live with it? That doesn't seem right, either.

Agree. But public opinion is a force not subject to the law. And is easily influenced. It is usually what can ruin a person's life no matter if they are innocent or not. I try not to be too judgemental unless the evidence becomes very strong. Such as my opinion of Bill and Hillary Clinton. :P

True, and I'm not taking a stand on either side of this argument. I'm just wondering what a victim should do if they've lived in torment for 30-40 years, and finally feel empowered enough to say something. Obviously they can't go to the police, because of a) dumb statutes of limitation, and b) there would be no way of proving anything anyway. Should they care about their tormentor and not shame them publicly? I mean, if they really went through something like that, do they owe anything to the monster who did that to them?
