That's because Runescape 3 is trash from years of mismanagement. In an effort to appeal to WoW and MOBA players, they overhauled the entire combat system and made it so the playstyle of every weapon in the game is like playing as a slow ret paladin. You build energy with basic attacks and then you hit whatever lights up to spend it. You do this while still clicking to move because that is the only option you have for movement in Runescape.

Their overhaul of the combat system broke all of the old content released up to that point (from 2004-2012). People were still regularly forming groups to do dungeons, minigames, and bosses that came out several years prior. Suddenly everything got so easy that anyone could just walk in and solo it, and with how weapons and armor were re-balanced, many of the minigames became useless as the items they rewarded became no different stat-wise than things you could just buy from the Grand Exchange.

It's been five years now since they made that change, and the game is still severely lacking in fun things to do. Many of my friends on Runescape just log in when new content is released, complete the content, and then go back to Old School where the world still feels alive.
