I had met Leeann Tweeden on my birthday in Afghanistan when she was doing a USO tour. I got a polaroid picture with her and she signed it "to my cutie patootie, xoxo". She was super sweet.

Looks like you're wracking up those penalties. I appreciate that you can't use logic and reason to address an issue, that's fine. And we're all thoroughly entertained by your ridiculous deflection.

Gotcha - thanks for clarifying.

Gotcha - and thanks. I got the ad hominem, I some how wasn't tracking your sarcasm. Gotta get my meter fixed.
Hmm. Might explain how Roger Stone knew ahead of time this would happen.
Well I'm glad Al Franken has apologized and has said he will cooperate in any ethics investigations into his behavior. It's also nice to see that both Republicans and Democrats are in favor of any such investigations including Franken himself, it's a lot better response than the Moore allegations.
Men in congress have to be careful with their response. If any of the rumors are to be believed, harassment has been commonplace there over the decades. Acts committed against staffers, reporters, pages etc... It's very likely that a fair number on both sides have things in their past that they are hoping stay buried.

I think he may not get that it's a big deal. I grew up with Franken on SNL, so I don't doubt at all that he thought he was being hilarious and not crossing the line, even though that was clearly the case. He'll probably end up resigning unless something else comes to light, though.
Wait, so should Al Franken take back his apology?

AL FRANKEN HAS LONG HISTORY OF SEXUAL MISCONDUCT JOKES BEFORE ACCUSATION OF GROPING WOMAN’S BREASTS

Just locker room talk, right guys?Franken once joked about child rape during a comedic roast of film director Rob Reiner. Franken laid out a scene where Reiner’s father, Carl, would invite famous friends over to rape his son.
Keep Up With This Story And More By Subscribing Now
“On a typical night, Carl would slip into Rob’s bed, roll him over, swab him down and say something like, ‘I’m thinking about hiring Morey Amsterdam to play Buddy Sorrell, what do you think?’” Franken said. “Well, the success of The Dick Van Dyke Show changed things dramatically. Carl started inviting many of his famous friends to fuck his son. That list includes some of the greats in comedy: Paul Lynde, Dom DeLuise, Rip Taylor, Danny Kaye, Charles Nelson Reilly and Rock Hudson—whom I frankly don’t think is that funny.”
Franken also brought up rape in a 1995 New York magazine article and detailed three-way sex with robots in a 2000 Playboy article, during which he also discussed a well-known 60 Minutes reporter.
“And, ‘I give the pills to Lesley Stahl. Then, when Lesley’s passed out, I take her to the closet and rape her,’” Franken said. “Or, ‘that’s why you never see Lesley until February.’ Or, ‘when she passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her.’”
Something really weird going on here.
Roger Stone knew of this ahead of time, as did another InfoWars guy.
Stone also mentioned that others are coming. Why would the famous ratfucker know that? Hmmm...
I don't think Franken's call for an investigation is purely benevolent, although it is the right thing to do.
I think he knows that the investigation is going to reveal some interesting context. This is less than 10 years ago, and we're going to find out the role the photographer and other participants had in this.
Nonetheless, I'm glad he apologized. It's a crass display for sure.

You want to take roasts into account?
Really?
You know there was a roast of Donald Trump on Comedy Central a few years ago, and he participated.
I've read the behind-the-scenes stories. I'd loooooooove for Trump's roast to be opened up for scrutiny, too.
Help control the population. Have your blood elf spayed or neutered.
Although his actions aren't as serious as the actions of others, it's still a shitty thing to do... and he doesn't deserve to be a politician. Unfortunately, Congress and the Senate are both packed full of pigs.
Franken apologized gracefully, demanded an ethics investigation on himself and, from what I understand, his accuser accepted it.
At least he owned up to his mistakes.

Trump better be careful with this one. I mean Grab Them By the Pussy is still a meme...
Trump truly is a meme president. I feel like he knows he's shot for 2020 so he's just going to meme it up for 4 years. There used to be hope that he'd buckle down and cut the crap, but I guess not.
It's hard to explain away these kinds of tweets. It's easy to point out the flaws in Russian collusion evidence, it's easy to point out the baseless attacks on Sessions, it's easy to point out the redeeming qualities of Trump that are easily overlooked, but it's just impossible for me to justify tweets like this.
The best explanation I've heard is that this is Trump in jest, winking at his supporters with an unseen smirk on his face. But even then, is it too much to ask that he just be presidential?
The only good thing about this is that what you see is what you get. There's no political doublespeak; I don't get the impression that I'm being manipulated or that I'm reading a statement from a president wearing a different hat. I wish we could have that same kind of frankness from a more principled individual.
