Are you confused about what the word "incitement" means?

There was major outcry and several calls for impeachment in regards to Obama. The difference is though Obama and his family did a pretty good job staying away from scandals. Trump is used to bringing attention to himself and as long as he continues to do so you'll see a lot more people bitching about him. It would have happened with Obama as well if he attracted as much attention.

I wasn't even talking about the Trump sticker... Merely responding to a guy who referenced "calling for violence" as being fighting words... I said calling for violence is incitement, not fighting words.

Can you read (assuming you even read it, since this is pretty simple)?

Trucker: I'M GONNA HAVE A FUCK TRUMP PLATE ON MY TRUCK TO PISS EVERYONE OFF! CAUSE, I HATE TRUMP, AND EVERYONE SHOULD AGREE WITH ME!

Sheriff: Stop that shit. Right fucking now.

Facebook: THIS PLATE BROKE NO LAWS! WE ALL HATE TRUMP! REEE!

Me: ...Why do you guys care about this? It's not a world problem, for fucks sake. It's just a Sheriff warning a Trucker not to put a Plate saying Fuck the President on.

It's like having your house painted, only for the paint to say "Fuck Obama", or "Fuck Abraham". It's not acceptable either way....

Have you seen the political BS still going about? Someday, that still will turn into car "Accidents" involving Trucks and stuff...

Some people can't take shit with a grain of salt. Besides, his Plate did say "Fuck Trump", who is our fucking President. You really can't have Plates like that, under ANY circumstances whatsoever.

I don't see how being a republican changes anything...

Nehls told the Houston Chronicle that he had received calls, texts and emails in recent days from people who took offense at the language in bold, white lettering: "F--- TRUMP AND F--- YOU FOR VOTING FOR HIM."....'
I wonder how many of those people who took such offense at this that they felt it necessary to contact the police, are the same people who constantly bitch about political correctness and other people being too thin-skinned.

Oh, and before you guys quote me with your responses, not that this is my opinion of the whole situation. So please do not get salty, and start arguments with me. Thank you very much.

I only post in these types of threads rarely, namely due to how little I care over these type of Situations. That, and I also don't want to spend 2-5 Pages arguing over little shit that shouldnt've even mattered in the first place. That's all i'm going to say.

That's not how the law works. It's not just "I accuse you, let's see what the jury says!".

Okay I see what you're saying now. I did read it a few times, the wording was ambiguous.

I don't really have as much confidence in the "fighting words" defense as you do though, that legal argument seems to be subtly deprecated these days.

I mean even as far back as 1971, Cohen v California found that "fuck the draft" didn't constitute "fighting words".

You're confusing bumper stickers with plates. Bumper stickers like that have always been allowed. That did need correcting

Funny enough, I think here in California that sticker would be ticketable just because it covers too much of the back window.

Kids are going to be able to see that. That is my problem with it.

Protesters are routinely jailed for threats and disorderly conduct, especially in areas where their protests don't match the majority opinion.

Fuck you is not a threat, lol.

and disorderly conduct gets thrown in when they start directly impacting non protesters. A bumper sticker is not directly affecting anyone, beyond feelings.

If taken literally, its incitement to violence.

With all the "hollywood exposes" lately, you'd think most people would have heard that rape is illegal by now, but I guess not.

Taken literally it is the crude equivalent of go to hell, it's not the same as I am going to fuck you up which is incitement to violence.
