Just because you were corrected doesn't mean you didn't move the goal post. In fact you moved them because you were corrected.
No you didn't use the word trust which is why it was in quotation marks. At the same same not taking someone seriously is the same as saying you don't trust them.
In before casinos make it so that you always win something - even if miserable useless amounts - bam! No longer bound by Gambling rules!
How the hell is it gambling? You're always getting something. Furthermore gambling involves spending money to make money on some game of chance. Poker. Slot machines. Horse racing. Money is put in to (try to) get money out.
You aren't making any money at all off of what you get out of loot crates, and you have no chance to. Everyone knows this going in.
If it was a matter of "buy a lootbox, get a chance to win blizzard bucks to spend on battle.net!" I'd say that'd qualify. But nothing in Overwatch, proper, holds any monetary value.

Yeah, it's a pretty shitty system. But loot boxes are not gambling tbh. When you bet in a casino there is always the chance of either losing your money, regardless if they give you some crap, or gaining more money. That's a binary outcome, you either loose or win more the money you put in. Lootboxes are worth nothing, you are just throwing your money at Blizzard, EA or whatever gaming company and getting virtual stuff that is worth nothing except at a personal level.
It's a shitty system and I don't like it, but it is not gambling.
These made up "blizzard bucks" would hold a monetary rate of exchange, at least. E.G, 500 blizzard bucks are worth Legacy of the Void, so 20$-ish. You'd be putting money in to potentially win some amount of money back.
Seeing as nothing in Overwatch has any actual given real-life value (even the "gold" you can win; it can't ever be exchanged for real money) there's a complete disconnect from any actual monetary value. Therefore: no gambling. People aren't ever putting money into lootboxes hoping to come out "ahead" in the deal money-wise. At least, I hope not, as that would be a very serious disconnect from reality.
