    I still remember carefully avoiding them in Silverpine.

    And sometimes, not as carefully as I should have.

    I always played late or at night back then,and I didn't know that until recently

    Looks like I still have things to learn about Vanilla

    Me too actually; I used to play after work, and the first time I was in that zone on the weekend was quite a surprise.

    The game had so much stuff like that back then. Part of it, to be fair, was just being completely new, but also the game didn’t have the breadcrumb quests everywhere, nor was the community as advanced.

    Breadcrumb quests are all over in vanilla, they just usually sent you somewhere distant instead of the next quest hub. Did you never do the quest that forced you to run all the way to the Badlands?

    I meant to say that vanilla had a lot of non linear extra content, so perhaps it was a bad word choice.

    And yes, I remember the quest, it sent you to the little horde hub in the northwest corner of the zone.
