Im somewhat conflicted on what to think of this, in a way i admire to guy for doing it ( launching a self made rocket) on the other i find his reasons to do it (not beliving in science and prove the "flat earth") to be not that good.

That title hurts my head so, so much,

    Self taught rocket scientist

And here I am part way through 8 years of education to do be able to call myself a scientist FML.

And the below quotes. Jesus fucking christ.

The self-described daredevil says he switched his focus to rockets after twice breaking his back doing stunt jumps in cars.
“I don’t believe in science,” declared the 61-year-old.
Hughes has stated that once he lands at the weekend, he intends to announce that he is running for the governorship of California.

it's not that hard. steam rocket designs are pretty well known. and since he is a stuntman, i'm guessing his design is a lot like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skycycle_X-2

Instead of a $20000 rocket you can buy a lot of plane tickets that go to like 11000-13000 m Altitude....

BBC does short videos on the website on strange things that people do. One of them was about the flat earth society and one woman's 'evidence' for the world being flat is that she went to the beach and balanced a meter rule in line with the horizon and she couldn't see the curve. This is the sort of mentality we are talking about, dumb as fuck.

Sounds like someone want to build a privately funded rocket (who doesn't? that's grade-a awesome levels of science),
... and found the perfect target demographics of gullible morons to fund it.

Best of luck to both parties, but I suspect both will end up regretting this.

We can't kill people that still have a working brain. The stupid ones already outnumber us, no need to make it easy for them.

That is the curve of the camera lens you fool, it is flat.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

The resident flat-earther already got banned so not much of an argument could be had.

He doesn't believe in science, but he believes in things that were created and refined through scientific discovery... And the very thing he's doing (attempting to prove a theory) is part of the definition of science...

How does this guy manage to breathe?
