My guess would be somewhere in Twilight Highlands, he seems to show up where the area is lush. Hyjal is out of the question because well, it's on fire and I don't think Cenarius would look too kindly on someone murdering all of his animal friends, and Vash'ir seems unlikely, seeing as it's fairly hard to set up a camp underwater, unless he's in a cave or something...

he's in stormwind hunting the most dangerous prey...humans.

Hunting Hemet would be one of the best quests ever implemented. Make him an elite and hide him somewhere in the zone, find him and knock a few bits of his health off before he disappears again. Perhaps traps could spawn for you (phasing?) when you accept the quest.

instanced forest where Hemet hunts you and you hunt him

that would be epic and what a duel that would be

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at and repair.

Just think of the prey we will hunt. Scorpions, ant lions, cactusues.

Hemet: Aye lad/lass, after my expedition to Northrend I started to get a wee bit home-sick, so I headed home to find this... this... TRASH! -Hemet points to a gnome encampment inside Ironforge- I have no issue with them in our city, but now they're trying to recruit our soilders to help them take back their home! Don't they know we have a war to win?! We need every solider available to fight the Horde! Now... I don't like doing this, but I'm tired of them wee-ankle biters... I'm going to lend you my trusty rifle and traps to take care of this... but be subtle, Gnomes arn't known to hold their ground... if you see them running, use the spike trap!

    NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

seriously though, that's kinda weak, Hemmit is a mainstay of WoW, he has to be in there somewhere, even if not as a questgiver, just as an NPC.

Well Wotlk definatly put an interesting spin on things by introducing a nemesis for him :P

What would be interesting would be a choice to help him or DEHTA. My choice would be to end him. Can't stand his endless "Kill 10,000 cats" quests

He may not be the most imaginative quest giver but he's getting better. I wouldn't mind doing more quests for the guy if they stick to the greater variety he had in Northrend. At the very very least he's 10x more interesting then his nemesis Dehta, I'd much rather go hunting them...

I can see it now... everyone gearing up for the final boss Deathwing. Only to find when they run in, Deathwing dead at the feet of the Great Nessingwary.

Then the heroes hear a whisper....

"There must always be an Aspect of Death." As Nessingwary lifts up the chin of Deathwing to his face.
Is the answer to the Question...

Hopefully in Stormwind. Hunting the goldsellers.

um he has always been in mid-level zones.

    lvl 30-40 stv
    lvl 63-66 nagrand
    lvl 75-78 sholazar

this time he has got to be in a lvl 82-84 zone, whichever that is.

After watching adventurers kill even the most dangerous of animals he has come to one grim decision.

Adventurers are the most dangerous game. A game fit for only Hemmit to hunt.
I once shot a man in Goldshire, just to watch him die.
