I always pick whatever I think looks best. If I'm going to be looking at pixels on a screen for hours and hours, might as well pick something that I think looks nice. Good racials are a bonus, but they are a very small part of my decision-making process when I create a new character.

I think that may be the new deciding factor for me.

I first and foremost base it on what race/gender I think suits it the most, after that I go by animations. If I still can't make up my mind I choose a race I haven't played much. Currently my main is a BE pala, he used to be human and when I went horde I chose BE because I was already using orb of the sindorei as often as I could. BE male 2h special attacks looks so awesome!

I picked human female paladin because of lore reasons and because I like their model 100 times more than the human male. Human male model is the worst ingame ;-)

100% appearance. Even when I was in heroic progression. If I don't like the way my character looks, I'm probably not going to enjoy myself when I play.

In Cata while I cared, I rolled races primarily for racials. Some alts were just random combinations. Nowadays, I just run an aesthetic I want to play as.
    Stay salty my friends.

I never have, and never will, pick a race because "x racial is best for y class". Its all about what looks good and what's enjoyable. I've never rolled Human because they're boring. Literally, I have played every other race in the game at some point, but never human.

What's the point of a fantasy game if you don't play something different than yourself?

Every character I make has a pseudo RP background for their identity, but they are a specific race/class because they are the most aesthetically pleasing to the class, not the other way around.

I also tend to make them based on an idea that these characters know each other, and that if given the chance would band together to fight evil. They are essentially my personal roster of heroes who would be on my raid team if all of them were on at once.

I rolled my female human for the way she looks in binkiplate and oversized weapons/shields.

I check the armors of the class I want to play and choose what would look better in the long run. Humans carry the armors quite well.

Well in competitive raiding you're kindof forced to a certain race, so Worgen as Alliance due to the crit (Fire Mage) and Troll as Horde. When I roll alts I normally just go for aesthetics and the profession boost, so I end up with atleast one of every race

I always roll the race I want to play for a character, racial/stats/whatever else be damned.

My first character was an elf, out of the alliance races the Elf was the only one that looked interesting on the creation screen.

If I was a PvP'er I'd choose Racials first. For PvE I've always chosen the race I thought looked the coolest.

No, I just wanted to be a human because of .. just because?

This was on an alt, my main is worgen because of the crit. On alts however I like to just roll whatever I feel suits the class or I want to look at for the time being, why did you roll the race you rolled?
I rolled human because I enjoyed playing them so much in WC2 and 3 when I was much younger.

I picked based on racials, and nothing else. In PvP I'll almost either go Undead, Orc, Human or Dwarf depending on what I'm playing, now anyway that might change next expansion. I couldn't care less what my character looks like, it doesn't matter if I'm the most amazing looking thing ever, or if I'm literally a black box on my screen walking around.

female orc for plate wearers and female undead for my rogue cause of the flips

Considering that I play on Tichondrius, I have to play Horde because the Horde is much more active. I'm Blood Elf because I love the way they look in transmog sets, but I know I should be Undead to be optimal. If I went Alliance, I'd have a tough time choosing between Night Elf or Human.

Im alliance on all my characters. However i hate alliance and would do anything to become horde. But because all my friends/guild play alliance, i'm stuck with 12 90's on the same server.

If Horde wasn't dead on my server i may have considered changing a few of them from allliance. If blizzard had one of those transfer/faction change sales that they had last year(i think it was last year?) then i'd prob transfer and change some.
