Void Storage is Clunky & Archaic - We Need an Item Journal

For transmogrification we need an Item model journal which behaves precisely like the Mount and Pet journals.

Right-click and 'Add to Item Journal' teaches you the model. You can then vendor the item and retain knowledge of its model.

"You already have knowledge of this item's appearance." if you have it already - especially useful for items that share models.

Transmogrification now draws from the Journal instead of your bank, bags & void storage.

    Done. Ship it.

It's a bit more complicated than just writing a paragraph of code and poofing it into existence. I believe they said they'd like to do it at some point but it is a big undertaking.

A transmogrification system revamp could be part of Patch 6.1 or 6.2, allowing you to build a collection of transmog items rather than storing them in your bank or Void Storage. It also may include tools to better manage multiple transmog sets.

One thing to keep in mind (and that Blizzard has to keep in mind) is that every new feature like this that they add to a character or to a user's battle.net account will need to be added to everyone, even people who log in once and never play again. They actually have to make sure that, for example, adding a list of every transmog items you've learned to your character data won't somehow double the size of your character in the database, or won't triple the load time when you login each night, or other boring back-end considerations. Adding in a new type of saved data for 500 million+ character records isn't just a matter of slapping together a UI and some code and calling it done; they also have to consider the impact. This takes time, so they can't just go straight from "good idea" to "implemented." For all we know, additional hardware might even be needed for the extra data storage; if this new data adds even a megabyte of storage requirements for each character created, that's potentially 500 terabytes of additional hard drive space needed.

Hoping that they'll do this with Patch 6.1.

My storage is already full and there's still so many wonderful things left to be collected.

Lol we all know it won't happen this expansion. We all know blizz, it's going to be a feature for the next expansion.

I don't think it will be all that difficult. It will take some doing, sure, because it's a totally different transmog method. In all seriousness though, all items are numbered, it's a simple enough solution to have the transmog NPC's let you choose the appearance of an item you've acquired. The data storage per character is simply the number list, with each item flagged as either 'yes' or 'no' depending on whether you've had it. Similar to the way that the game knows whether you have or have not completed a quest.

They could also do the "saved appearance" option. LOTRO has had that method of transmog for years. You get X number of appearance tabs, equip a set and then save it to one of the tabs, then you can switch those appearances at any time without changing gear. That option has the benefit of not having to update your look every time you equip a new item.

Either way, I think there's plenty of room for improvement in the transmog system.

They're already planning on adding this in a patch during WoD.

They're currently working on this. It will be like GW2's system, only less costly (you have to pay [either by gold or real money] for gems to buy the transmog shit on GW2) for us.

Also, Void Storage hasn't been out long enough to be deemed "archaic".

Well the system that they use for it is exactly like how a bank works + paying an amount. So while the feature itself does not exist that long, the system it uses does.
