Anyone remember the old bright cat mount armor?

The bright and shiny one? I always thought changing it was the most annoying thing done ever by blizzard. The old spectral tiger looked so much better. So did every other cat mount that has armor on it.

Whenever i ride one of these mounts i feel an urge to scratch and polish that dull looking armor, always hoping theres some shiny stuff underneath

In both your examples, each screen was taken in different lighting... of course they'll look different.

Not only is the lighting different in all 4 pictures, but the first and third tigers are mounted by Spriests.

I see (in order) druid or monk, rogue, mage, warrior, rogue(?). Not a single priest.

Anyway, from what I remember the armor change occurred due to a change in the lighting engine in Cataclysm, and affected more than just the nightsaber armor. A lot of reflective surfaces became duller.
