Ability difference between tanking classes?

Hi there. I am planning to return to the game in a few months and want to start again as a Prot Paladin. I was just curious if certain tanking classes were better at certain scenarios?

Absolutely, without question. You could, in fact, say that different tank classes having different strengths, weaknesses, and playstyles was the very *mark* of being different tank classes, not just a label stuck on the same class five or six times.

If your concern is beyond just "do they all have strengths and weaknesses", to "are they all viable", then yes, all tank classes are viable, especially for someone just returning to the game, and asking this here. (eg: someone who, like me, isn't in the US 100 race or anything.)
