How are Jeweled Onyx Panthers selling so cheap?

Is there a way to know if I've purchased a duplicated item? I always buy mounts off the AH, never from trade, because I thought that was safer.

If it is off of the AH then it is fine. Person to person trade isn't screened the same way.

well, being listed on the AH doesn't mean that the item wasn't originally duped. There's no way to make an onyx panther that'd make a 27k sale profitable.

AFAIK you should be totally safe to buy them off the AH though; those transactions are monitored and I've never heard of anybody getting an AH purchase clawed back on the grounds it wasn't legit. Don't buy from the trade spammers though.
