Upgrading crafter gear with valor

OK another question.

If i upgrade my tier 5 item with valor and then upgrade it to tier 6, will it retain its valor upgrades or I have to burn another 500 points?

You can't upgrade non-tier 6 craftable items with valor. Upgrades with valor exist only for the maximum ilvl tier possible.

That's actually not true, my hunter is 5/6 on her gun, and 0/2 upgrades, I upgraded it via valor and it worked fine,
No idea about if it is retained, guess I will find out when I upgrade, but can't see them not allowing it to keep its 2/2
