Gear Templates - Does TYPE of Gear Matter or Just iLvL?

Hello!

Quick question to those who've been following along more closely, but does the actual type/category of gear matter when gearing for PvP (instanced) or is it just iLvL that will affect your baseline "template."

i.e. as a Shaman, does it matter if I do 1h + shield vs a staff? (for aesthetics) ... or will it just say "he's got a iLvL of 778, here are his stats for shaman"????

If you are talking about stats, no it does not matter what stats your gear has, only Ilvl matters.

For weapons, you will be equipping your artifact weapon, so if you are playing R-shammy you will be using which ever artifact the spec has, you won't be using any different weapons, so weapons are already pre-determined for every spec/class

equip able / proper armor ilvl is all that matters, if its spec proper (like a spell staff for elemental) just factor in ilvl increase on the predetermined template. If you have staff vs 1h/shield of equal ilvl your stats won't change.
