Noob's WeakAuras 2 question.

Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me. I've recently taken the plunge into WA2, I've found a string (think that's what the layouts are called) which I like but I would like to tweak a few bits. The main issue is changing a cooldown that is shown as a bar on screen, I want to change the bar to some feathery wing things instead. Is this possible? Or would I have the start the spell's cooldown/layout/thing on screen from scratch?

If I understood your question correctly: You can rightclick the Aura and go to Convert To..... and then select Texture. You should then be able to select a feathery whatever texture you were thinking of having instead.
