Void Torrent Clipping QoL Improvement?

Can someone tell me if I am going crazy here (sorry), but I noticed something in raid last night and I can't tell if it's a 7.1 change, or just me.

Historically I had been very frustrated by hitting Void Torrent and then instantly getting hit by something that means I instantly have to move (Rot, Twisting Shadows, Web of Pain, Sleeping Fog, whatever) and I would lose the cooldown and do no damage at all because I had just clipped the spell.

Last night I was hitting VT, but if I moved before it did any damage, the spell wouldn't register and I wouldn't lose the cooldown. It didn't even appear in the combat log. I know I hit the button because the visual effect would start, but when I finished my move, I would still be able to cast Void Torrent.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Still playing at about 30ms, I have no idea what's different. Either way it's a good improvement. At least three times last night I felt the frustration of moving just after hitting VT and then noticing it wasn't on CD.
