Even a Paladin tank in TBC couldn't just tank a 6 back in Heroic Shattered Halls because the raw damage would kill him. I can understand Blizz wanting to make threat less of an issue, but removing the need for CC was a massive mistake.

It was so amusing doing a pug 25 man Razuvious, you would always hit a wall their because most Priest didn't know how to Mind Control, because they never had to. Had Heroics been a proper challenge they would have learned how to use such a tool.
Yep. The number of times I got called filthy things when offering to sap or mind control in Wrath - just give in to the chain pulling and AOE fest, because that's what it was.

It was satisfying to hit Cata and all of a sudden CC is a thing again. One particular run, I said I was ready to mind control the healer in The Vortex, and got all kinds of 'noob, gtfo" comments from the try hards - and....wipe. "Gee I guess maybe we should use cc". Ya think? I remember the most mouthy of the abusers refuses to call me by my character name, he was for everyone else, but I was "the priest" from then on. Good times. Same thing in Stone Core. Zone in with my Rogue, immediately get "kick the rogue, no AOE". What? They were trying to chain pull it, and got their asses handed to them. They learned, and cc made a comeback.

Vanilla: LBRS. Nobody wanted to do it. It was long, boring and painful. You had to do it for certain recipes and for the UBRS key.
BC: Pugging HC:SH and Slabs was nightmare inducing.
WotLK: HC:HoL was difficult at the start but nothing compared to BC HCs. Don't remember HoR being difficult at all? Occulus wasn't hard but it wasn't fun either.. avoided.
Cata: Skipped the expansion, what a farce.
MoP: Didn't see the appeal in returning to pandas.
WoD: Eh... didn't spend much time in them, all easy, and worthless.
Legion: Kara but I unsubbed a couple weeks after release. Maybe not now?

Plus, escorting a Thrall that had very little idea of what was going on was kind of cool.

The first Caverns of Time instance was a masterpiece of dungeon design and too much to handle for the average player, so (sadly) it went into the garbage bin along with Auchenai Crypts.
Durnholde? Least linear.... Wuuuuuuuuut? The damn place had a map and a road, it could not be any more linear.

Amazing sig, done by mighty Lokann

For me, it was Shadow Labs in BC. Heroic more so then others.
No matter what toon I was on that Mind Control would wreck havoc with groups. So many wipes on that alone.

Stratholme never seemed hard, just big enough to feel like you'd lost half a day in there.
I do remember Halls of Lightening causing problems. It was rare myself or the tank would go down, but dozy dps would often die three or four times before getting to Loken.
Shadow Labs as well for the MC phase that had everyone wailing... though I loved it.

The only real answer here is, Shattered halls. All heroics post BC was a user skill issue.

I thought Crypts was brutal, Shattered Halls was great if you took 2xTanks and 2xAOE DPS, so much fun to be had.

When I give boosts to people I always let myself get MC, so much fun.

    BC: Mag Terrace, SHalls, SLab
Wrath:HoL(S too, because of Brann's slow ass), HoR, Gundrak(Mostly due to people rage quitting over not getting Less-Rabi achievement)
Crapaclysm:Hated everything, but GB and SC stuck out the most
MoP:SoN, just because of how tediously long it was
WoD: SM and GD(lolfireeverywhere and lolclaustrophobia respectively)
    Legion: Cath

Flame me all the way to Hell and back: Shadopan Monastery. Especially during the 6.0 pre-patch. Tanks would go in there, pull all the exploding Sha, die, go full-blown mouth-foam in party chat about how "this is so easy no one should even need healing why the fuck am I dead it's your fault" and then procede to spend minutes trying to avoid trash.
Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
    [What's half of minor?]
"Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."

little side note to the burning crusade heroics:

remember that you was forced to support all of your guild mates to go through the heroics for the TK pre quest. So you was forced to do the HCs with non-perfect lineup. Shattered Halls was in this scenario the hardest dungeon due to the timerun. In the best case you had a experienced 4-man group which boosted all the other mates through the timerun. The other dungeons were possible with mediocre and unexperienced setups but much more time consuming (like wiping from pack to pack, >=2h per dungeon were not unusual). Random this was a completely impossible task pre-nerfed. This is quite unimaginable nowadays.
