    Fishing - How I punish my 9 year-old

So, in a creative way to consequence my nine-year-old son, I've decided to have him level my fishing for 20 minutes. He says it's painfully boring. Mission accomplished!! Do you think this is an unreasonable punishment? I would like to hear your thoughts...

Sounds closer to child abuse than punishment.

    You should be locked up.

I think Amnesty International will send you a strongly worded letter condemning you!

That is one of the strangest ideas for punishment I have ever heard of. As far as to whether or not it is unreasonable depends on what he did and his personality. Ah shoot I hit No by mistake.

You know a part of a game is bad when you make a child do it as punishment.

In that sense, I find this hilarious and I approve

I am amused. I'm not sure what that says about me...

What's wrong with sending them off to stay in their room?

Good thinking out of the box! But it sounds like a punishment you have to supervise because he could turn off game sound and jsut go do whatever he wants.

Like vendor all your gear and log in and out to erase it off the buyback menu or outright delete it.

    its horribly unproductive.
I agree with the OP's punishment. It's neither physically straining nor abusive. It's forcing the child o be productive. LOL. (this is a bit of sarcasm)
    But imo, its not abusive.

Personally i loved getting sent to my room, i had video games and toys and art supplies and yeah, not much of a punishment.

till one day i really really messed up and found everything in my room no longer there.

Child labor. Amnesty International will be in touch with you very soon. I don't see how this is in anyway productive punishment. Rather give him a shovel and tell him to go dig a hole half as deep as his own height and then fill it. At least that will work as excercise. Thou that could also bring social worker and police behind your door. Not everyone agree with corporal punishment. In the end you will buy him ice cream and tell not do bad things again.

I never understood how this was punishment, when I was a kid I had so many books in my room and I loved to read..

If I actually got sent to my room it generally got me out of doing chores or anything like that and I got to go read instead

I kind of like fishing, in-game and out lol. I don't mind fishing, and it's actually still kinda calming like the real thing.

I do understand how most people find it beyond tedious though. Kudos to OP for finding a way to level it up and punish his child in a non-violent manner.

Try making him level archeology. I know, I know. Sounds too severe. But that's in case you catch him smoking weed, or peeping on the neighbour's wife.
On a more serious note, fishing is WAY more fun than archeology. WAY.
