    Buying a new TV...

... what should I look for if I'm gonna use it for multimedia and maybe a little gameing?

    I've looked at

    http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/t...5000PWXXU-spec
    and
    http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/sto...specifications

    Anyone got some input?

    Don't know much about tv's... I'm a projector guy.
    Can't really beat blu-ray movies on a 125" screen.
I use it for xbox360 too... looks amazing.

    Hahahaha, nice one XD

I would go with the Samsung, I've got one myself and it's really nice. Guess you should just wait abit for TetrisGoat's reply since he knows lots of stuff about monitors and TV's.

I'm diggin' the Sony more because of the 120Hz vs. the 100 from Samsung although i'm sure 20Hz doesn't make a huge difference. On that note tho, Cnet did a review a couple months back where they compared 60, 120, and 240Hz side by side. They could hardly tell the difference between 60 and 120, and then 120 and 240. 60 and 240 blew their minds! I personally hate truemotion but if you want the most realistic image possible, then 240Hz with true-motion is your friend. I think there might be higher than 240Hz now with the whole 3D thing, but prices are still considerably high for 240Hz LED tvs at 40"+. 2 years ago my Samsung 52" 60Hz LCD HDTV cost $1100. Today its still going for $799!

I find Sony to be overpriced for what they offer. I would go for Samsung, personally.

I have a 55'' LED and a 65'' LED 3D samsung TV. I got the 65'' for almost free because of saved up points on an AMEX card :P I would highly recommend any Samsung TV. My friend has a 51?'' Sony and the picture quality isn't even comparable. The online apps that come with the TV are pretty lacking IMO but who really uses them? My favorite thing about the 65'' is that it has a USB port so I can hook up an wireless ethernet dongle and I can have it on my home network and stream movies from my PC to it through its content view application. Pretty boss.

Plus sony is going to lose your registration information to hackers :P I kid, I kid. But seriously, they might.
